Troy Ave Said He Refuses To Cave In To A Thief Over Risque Vid
Troy Ave said a brazen thief is trying to extort $20,000 from him using stolen, raw footage from a raunchy music video shoot that turned into a sexual encounter.
The rapper – who is also battling attempted murder charges – told BOSSIP he is being blackmailed over erotic footage he shot with a model while filming his new music video last month.
The footage fell into the wrong hands this week when the unknown person broke into Troy’s videographer’s car and stole his computer, he said. The machine had the raw film from the sexually charged shoot, which the rapper admitted turned into an intimate encounter.
“After he was done with the edit, he was supposed to delete the raunchy parts that you clearly couldn’t see,” Troy Ave told BOSSIP exclusively.
Yesterday, using the Instagram handle @manhegottapay, the would be extorter demanded $20,000 from Troy in exchange for returning the computer and not going public with the footage. The thief began threatening the “All About The Money” rapper, claiming he needed to be paid immediately or he’d release the film.
And the crook refused Troy’s initial request to meet face to face.
“MEEET UP??” (sic) the alleged extorter wrote in Troy’s DMs. “YEAA RIGHT. YOU WON’T FOOL ME FAM. I SAW WHAT YOU DID AT THAT CLUB. PAYPAL, MONEYGRAM or BITCOIN ONLY.”

A screen grab of the stolen footage the would be extorter sent Troy Ave.
However, the rapper had refused to play ball, and decided to share his story to shame his would be extorter as the thief shops the tape around to different media outlets.
“I always think stealing is like a bum, lowlife crime,” Troy Ave, who was born Roland Collins, told us. “I’d rather you be a robber than a thief. I’ve never stolen anything in my life. I never respected no thief, stealing. I think this is some bulls**t.”
We’ve reached out to the person behind the @manhegottapay for comment.
The videographer said he filed a police report about the theft, and we’re trying to determine whether police are investigating.
Troy said it was the second time this week that he was a victim of a fraud scheme. The day before, a scammer started a Go Fund Me Page to raise $1 million in the rapper’s name to supposedly fund a mixtape.
“I feel like ‘why is it always something?’” he said. “There’s always mad obstacles in life.”
“I never knew all of this s**t comes with this,” he added. “I guess it’ a small price to pay, because I live a good life, I ain’t tripping.”
The rapper is also fighting for his freedom after the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office charged him with attempted murder after police said he shot at an unknown assailant who’d just killed his best friend Ronald McPhatter backstage at a T.I. concert last May. The rapper didn’t want to go into the case as it makes it’s way through the courts but said he’s looking on the bright side.
“That’s what I’m learning,” he said. “You might think the storm is bad when you’re in the middle of it, but when you look back at it, you’ve rebuilt your house.”
