Random Ridiculousness: Debt Collectors Get Out of Pocket

- By Bossip Staff

What would you do if a bill collector called you and said…

You are totally ghetto. Second of all, ma’am, learn English. Get an education since your sitting on your fat derriere all day long,…

Pop the Hood…

Somebody gave bill collector’s the green light to say anything and everything to get people to pay their bills. This makes absolutely no sense, how in the world is the bill collector going to tell her that she’s uneducated in one breath and in the next breath, remember proper etiquette. Guess a**holes have to have manners too.

This is not the first time I have heard of this. Doug Banks had one where the debt collector left a V/M message for the debtor…and can be heard calling him a ‘broke ass’ at the end of the message.

I HAD A BILL COLLECTOR CALL ME ABOUT MY STUDENT LOAN AND THEY USE TO ASK ME CRAZY STUFF LIKE: “DO I HAVE A BOYFRIEND I COULD GET THE MONEY TO PAY THEM”…STUFF LIKE THAT AND ONE DAY I BLEW UP AND I CALLED THE BILL COLLECTORS OVER AND OVER AND OVER THEN I GOT THE SUPERVISOR AND HARASSSED THEM TO DEATH UNTIL THEY AGREED TO THE PAYMENTS I WANTED TO PAY……YOU COULD HERE THE STRESS IN THEIR VOICES WHEN I KEPT CALLING FOR TWO WEEKS STRAIGHT!

    LOL!

There are laws against that. If the person get a lawyer they can actually sue the collections agency. People need to know their rights.

  • THE BEST IS YET 2CUM

I too had a bill collector to call me with the drama too. She called my cousin and threaten her and I asked my cousin to give me the number. And boy once I got a hold of her I told her look b***h I know what company you work for I will follow you home and meark you and your mother brother sister and your father too and lets just say I got no more calls since then on. My advice is to not give them you legal house phone number just your cell number .

That collector just let all his racist flags fly in that call. How many stereotypes did he squeeze into 15 seconds?

Our gov’t is BROKE. I have lots of ideas to help our gov’t make money AND clean up America!

Start imposing stiff FINANCIAL penalties to corporations that break the law. Any law. Payable to the U.S. Government. This will be an incentive for the gov’t to actually pursue offenders and follow-up.

There are laws and regulations about when collectors may call, and what they may say. If this company (or the owner, if the company goes bellyup) had to pay the gov’t $50,000 for EACH offense, then they would eventually STOP DOING IT and FIRE those offenders.

There are so many other ways to pay off our national debt.

  • Atl_Finest

I heard the call on CNN yesterday. It was very disturbing

  • PUSSYCATFUN

I WONDER IF BILL COLLECTORS HAVE OTHER BILL COLLECTORS CALLING THEM FOR MONEY.

  • Yummy

I actually used to be a debt collector and I quit because of siuations just like this. I heard coworkers threaten peoples lives, threaten to make them loose there jobs and all sorts of things. It was terrible the way that some of coworkes talked to people..sad thing is a collector makes very little money about 10 a hour ( unless you get lots of commision) so they cant pay there bills either!

  • Cal_City

I would have loved to be on the receiving end of that phone call…Lets just say, they would have put ME on THEIR national do not call list!!

  • Its6amHoGetOut- Today is "Ask 6am Anything Day"

  • johnson

I tell them to listen very closely, then I blast an air horn into the phone.

Okay, why did I just get EXTREMELY pissed at what that man said to the black woman? Wooooooo chile, I can’t even begin to think at what I want to say to him.

And how can you sit there and talk about somebody’s kids are gonna see you arrested? I felt bad for the first woman too, that’s just sad.

  • Ann

UGH! I found out right when i started college which was just 3 days after i turned 18 that somebody had an account from like 1995 in my name. I had never dealt with debt collectors or anything and trying to get that resolved was one of the most stressful things ever in my life. I would call to find out how I am supposed to clear my name because of fraud, and collectors would be like “whatever you liar, just pay your money” or “if you had paid the debt you wouldn’t have to call me and deal with me”…it took 3 years, but i finally got that cleared up and had 3 collectors fired in the process. They need to rethink how they train these people because in instances like mine, we’re trying to do the right thing after somebody else has done wrong

  • Janie

…and they make in the upwards $12/hour…go figure!

  • syxxifux

I worked at a collection agency for 1 maybe two weeks a few years ago….I only worked there for the training period (long enough to get my first paycheck) and the I left the company because they were teaching you the correct way to go about collecting money but at the same time they were teaching you lies…in other words they were telling you to lie to debtors in order to collect on the money…Being the person that I am….I try not to lie but if I do I want to do it because I WANT TO DO IT and not because someone is telling me to do it….and besides….I myself was in debt and I know that sometime people can’t afford to pay their bills and for some of the things they were trying to get us to say to these people I just didn’t want any part of it….so I left.
