Meek Mill Ruined By Court System
Meek Mill, real name Robert Williams, is going to jail. Again. This time for up to four years for violating the terms of his probation. It’s easy to look at simply those facts and call him an idiot for getting into trouble but it’s deeper than that.
Williams’ original probation stemmed from a drug and weapons charge from 2008 – nine years ago, when he was 21 years old. In the near-decade since that arrest, Meek Mill has obviously turned his life around. He’s become a successful entertainer who has donated to various charities and performed community service numerous times.
However, he violated his probation in 2009 for simply traveling out of state, which led to more jail time and an extension of his probation.
The judge in the case, Common Pleas Court Judge Genece E. Brinkley, accused Mill of “thumbing his nose” at authority for two more arrests. The arrests came from an altercation with an aggressive fan at an airport and reckless driving in New York. The charges for the fight were dropped and the charges for the reckless driving were to be dropped pending good behavior after six months.
Meek Mill has been sentenced to 2-4 Years in PA State Prison for violating his probation. Violations included dismissed charges. SAD!

So in the near-decade since Meek Mill’s arrest at the age of 21, he’s become a millionaire entertainer with many philanthropic efforts, left the state without permission and had two legal issues that resulted in dropped charges. So now he has to face jail time. This is how the court system traps black men. And Meek Mill is rich. Imagine how it treats poor black men who are trying to make ends meet.
We aren’t the only people who noticed this either. Take a look at the tweets about how unfair this is to Mill and others like him.
Let me get this straight: Meek Mill probation violation: 2-4 years

Meek is a prime example of how the court system sets people up to fail. Also, how is someone losing their liberty something to laugh about?

Brock Turner received 6 (but only served 3) months in jail for rape. Now juxtapose that to Meek’s 2-4 years for parole violations. pic.twitter.com/q7f3UX4Kam

Just read up on the Meek Mill case — what a pair of garbage charges to use to revoke probation. Awful.

I don’t know Meek’s situation. But I do know the system is stacked for someone like Meek to not get out of it.

If you think anything Meek Mill has ever done to violate probation merits 2-4 years in state prison you are part of the problem.

Meek got sentenced for being arrested for charges that were DROPPED.
Can’t even begin to comprehend what the hell is going on with that.
