Jill Scott Filed For Divorce From Mike Dobson

Jill Scott’s soon to be ex husband has called for privacy and civility in the wake of his shock split with the singer for the sake of their children.

Mike Dobson asked Jill to be more cordial when it came to their divorce dealings, and he pledged to do the same.

“Please know that this very public approach to a sensitive matter like a divorce was never my intention, nor will it be my approach moving forward, despite the false statements published about me daily,” Dobson told us in a statement through his lawyer. “Jill and I collectively have three children involved here and for the sake of their privacy and dignity, I would just ask all parties involved not to comment, say mean things and to please respect my individual privacy, her privacy and our children, who have to read all of these comments and statements.”

Earlier this month, BOSSIP exclusively revealed that the newlywed “Golden” singer had filed for divorce against Dobson, citing irreconcilable differences and “improper marital conduct” which under Tennessee law could mean anything from verbal and physical abuse to forced sexual contact.

But Dobson said he never mistreated Scott during their 13 month marriage, and was “blindsided” by the divorce, saying he understood that they were separating, but trying to work things out. He had a few choice words for the neo-soul singer, telling us that she was “an evil woman” who liked to control and emasculate her partners.

Dobson also questioned whether Scott was taking a dig at him when she wrote the divorce docs that he was unemployed – even though he said he’s been employed by the city of Atlanta for the last six years.

However, he said that he wouldn’t say anything bad about Scott in public anymore and thanked the public for the support he said he’s received from around the world.

“From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you all, he said. “For anyone worried, please trust that God’s got my back!”

Dobson said he’s now planning to file his response to Scott’s divorce complaint.

“As for the complaint filed against me, we will file my response very soon,” he said. “I ask you all to allow me my day in court.”
