Jill Scott And Mike Dobson Divorcing After 15 Months

The lawyer repping Jill Scott’s estranged husband in their divorce said it was unfair to paint his client with the same brush as Kendu Isaacs – or any other man involved in a high profile divorce.

“This case is apples and oranges compared with any other cases out there,” attorney James Walker told BOSSIP.

We exclusively revealed that Scott filed for divorce last September, citing irreconcilable differences and “inappropriate marital conduct that such further cohabitation would be unsafe and improper.” Dobson countersued Scott earlier this month, accusing her of bullying him throughout their marriage and coercing him into signing a bad prenup agreement.

Dobson asked for the prenup to be thrown out, half of the marital assets, along with $500,000 for the pain and suffering he allegedly endured.

That move made some fans question if Dobson and Scott’s divorce was similar to Mary J. Blige’s divorce from her soon to be ex Kendu. In court papers, Blige has accused Isaacs of being a work-shy and improperly spending more than $400,000 on his mistress.

But Walker, Dobson’s lawyer, said Dobson never mistreated Scott and always held down a job, working for the city of Atlanta since 2011. He said Dobson wanted to stay in the marriage, and was especially shocked to learn that things were over when Scott changed the locks on the home they shared and filed a restraining order against him.

“He is devastated by the demise of his marriage,” Walker said. “He really, really loved Jill and wasn’t one of those guys who married a celebrity. He married someone he fell in love with.”

Walker said he’s been working with Scott’s legal team to try to come to a settlement that will keep the case out of court.

“We were hopeful and we are hopeful that we can sit down with Ms. Scott and her team and try to resolve this matter amicably,” Walker said. “We’re not trying to take advantage of her. We want what is due to Mr. Dobson.”
