Kian Lawley Fired From The Hate U Give
A huge youtube star turned actor named Kian Lawley was casted in the movie version of “The Hate U Give“, but that was swiftly taken away after an old video of him being shamefully racist towards Black people surface. Probably something you don’t want to happen, when you’re set to be in a huge production, based on the Black Lives Matter Movement…
“We’re all black drinking purple Kool-Aid and eating Kentucky fried motherf-cking chicken,” he says in the clip.
The clip has since been pulled from YouTube, but you can watch it here at the 3:40 mark:
Reportedly the video is over 5 years old, but Fox was prompt to axe the star from the film stating, “due to the controversy surrounding his past comments and behavior, Kian Lawley will no longer appear in The Hate U Give. The studio plans to recast the role of Chris and reshoot scenes as needed,” said a spokesperson for 20th Century Fox in a statement according to CNN.
The film is still in production and featuring some of Black Hollyweird’s biggest names like Amandla Stenberg, Regina Hall, Anthony Mackie, Russell Hornsby, Algee Smith, Sabrina Carpenter, Issa Rae, Lamar Johnson, and Common.
Meanwhile, Kian is apologizing for his disgusting comments, but many weren’t sympathetic.
Umm ok, he’ll be back on YouTube in less than a month…
