People Are Upset Over Roseanne‘s Rival Including Support For Trump
Fans of the 90’s sitcom Roseanne were excited at the announcement that after more than 20 years, the show was returning for a revival season. Fans weren’t as excited, however, when the show actually aired it’s first episode, and the title character’s support of President Trump was at the forefront.
An hour-long premiere aired onTuesday night, and the storyline revolved around Roseanne and Jackie Harris at odds over their voting histories. Their exchanges throughout the episode featured pretty much every political buzzword, including Jackie wearing a “Nasty Woman” sweatshirt.
The sisters make up by the end of the episode, but that hasn’t stopped fans of the show from being turned off that Roseanne, just like the show’s creator, is a Trump supporter.
While many are upset at a beloved character was made to be a Trump supporter, others appreciate the TV depiction starting a dialogue. See what the people of Twitter had to say about the sitcom’s first episode back on television.
#Roseanne needs to realize she's destroying the Conner family name. The Conners were rough and quirky but they always stood for what was right. Now it's all gone. I can't enjoy watching a woman who supports Trump. That's it.

#Roseanne is the wife that Trump would have if he wasn’t a multimillionaire mobster.

I️ see why folks are skeptical about watching due to her personal views but I️ am really loving the fact that I️t humanizes BOTH sides again. I️ will NEVER EVER be a trump supporter but it’s nice to be reminded that we can still relate on a HUMAN level🤷🏾♀️✊🏾 #Roseanne

Can’t enjoy watching a trump cultist who’s naturally vulgar and crude pretend to be funny. Can’t do it. #Roseanne

I don’t know why everyone is excited about this #Roseanne reboot. She’s a scumbag Trump supporter.
— Rich Henderson (@justplaneliving) March 22, 2018
The same people who called #roseanne vulgar and disrespectful for shooting the bird while singing the national anthem are watching her new show because she's a Trump supporter.

I am watching #Roseanne and I think some of you are very wrong. I despise Trump, but I don’t see this as right-wing propaganda. Seems more like a commentary on political division within American families.

I may disagree with #Roseanne’s politics, but I am thrilled to see a Trump supporter represented in a thoughtful way on mainstream television. @RoseanneOnABC

For the millionth time we don’t want an inside look at everyday Trump supporters. It doesn’t matter if it’s a #Roseanne reboot or a mainstream media profile. They let their hatred get the best of them, fell for Trump’s con and wrecked our country. There is no other story to tell.

There's Roseanne, a show I loved for years, sitting on my DVR, and here I am, waiting to feel un-pissed-off at her so I can watch it. It may be a while.
— Mark Harris (@MarkHarrisNYC) March 28, 2018
who the fuck thought it would be a good idea to bring Roseanne back

Retweet if you already cannot wait until #Roseanne gets cancelled
— SCROTUS (@_NotFakeNews_) March 28, 2018
People, calm down… if you actually watched #Roseanne tonight you would have noticed that there were jokes made about Hillary supporters AND Trump supporters. It was hardly one-sided or “pro-Trump.”
I feel show depicted the reality of a family with different political views.
— Nathan Stark (@TheStarkVoice) March 28, 2018
Some folks like Roseanne and Howard Stern are taking full advantage of the Trump 'thing' to help with their careers. I have nothing against that but I'm also not going to watch them.
— Quancy Clayborne (@QuancyClayborne) March 28, 2018
Not in a box. Not with a fox.
Not in a house. Not with a mouse.
I would not watch it here or there.
I would not watch it anywhere.
I would not watch that show Roseanne.
I do not like her. I’m not a fan.— Bryce Tache 🇺🇸 (@brycetache) March 28, 2018
People need to relax, it's comedy and #Roseanne has been tackling controversial topics from the very beginning. It's not about being left or right, it's about being able to get a joke and not take everything so darn serios

You know what I find funny about Republicans watching #Roseanne ? The first time it was on most Republicans were complaining what a terrible show it was. They hated that she was tearing down perfect family values. Now, their hypocrisy is on display as they clamor at her feet.

Fwiw – the new Rosanne is fascist propaganda designed to push the idea that reactionary right wing thought is "just another political choice"
I really don't CARE what Roseanne did for you as a teenager; this is repugnant bullshit.
— Nina Illingworth (@EIWBM_Cat) March 28, 2018
If ‘Roseanne’ made you feel like you could call up those old Trump supporter friends and just put politics behind you…
…it’s a safe bet your only marginally affected by the politics in front of you.
