Capital Gazette Shooter Threatened Newspaper For Years

The man who shot and killed five people at the Capital Gazette in Anne Arundel County, Maryland is in custody and has been charged with five counts of first degree murder according to The Baltimore Sun.

Today, we get news of exactly what was going on with this psychopath. Jarrod Ramos filed a lawsuit against the Gazette after they published a story about his criminal harassment of a former classmate who knew first-hand how crazy he is. So crazy in fact that she literally predicted that this would happen.

A woman who said she was stalked by the suspect told the 11 News I-Team that she warned a former police official years ago that the suspect “will be your next mass shooter.” She added, “He’s a f—— nut job.”

One of the people named in Ramos’ lawsuit was the Gazette’s former editor and publisher, Thomas Marquardt. Marquardt says that he wasn’t the least bit shocked when police identified the shooter based on Ramos’ history of online threats toward the paper:

“I was seriously concerned he would threaten us with physical violence,” Marquardt said from his retirement home in Florida. “I even told my wife, ‘We have to be concerned. This guy could really hurt us.’ ”

Marquardt said he called the Anne Arundel County police about Ramos in 2013, but nothing came of it. He consulted the paper’s lawyers about filing a restraining order, but decided against it.

“I remember telling our attorneys, ‘This is a guy who is going to come in and shoot us,’ ” he said.

As is the killings weren’t tragic enough. Several people reported Ramos’ behavior and fear of his propensity for violence, and yet, here we are, still.
