Fair Or Foul? Travis Scott Accused Of Transphobia After Amanda Lepore Is Axed Off Album Cover
Travis Scott Labelled Transphobic Over Album Art Snub
Travis Scott is under fire right now because he posted an edited version of his “Astroworld” art, which omitted an image of Amanda Lepore. The original image was posted by photographer David LaChapelle, featuring the model on the lefthand side. When the trans icon became aware that she’d been removed, Lepore questioned the decision in an IG caption.
It was great being part of @david_lachapelle s incredible photograph of @travisscott s albulm cover but I’m curious why I’m not on the picture @travisscott posted 💋❤️💄 #amandalepore #glamourgirl A girl can’t help it❗️Too distracting for the eyes ❗️Upstaged everyone in the photograph ❗️Oh well……….. I love @david_lachapelleand @travisscott ❗️Love and kisses 💋❤️💄”
— To which LaChapelle responded, “because you were a bad bad girl lol it’s not for any other reason.”
Fans of Lepore did not think LaChapelle’s explanation was thorough enough and commenced to bashing Travis for being “transphobic.”
protect Amanda Lepore at all costs, @trvisXX what’s GOOOOOOOD??? @KylieJenner come collect your trans-exclusionary man! @davidlachapelle it’s unfortunate you couldn’t take a creative stand on maintaining Amanda’s presence for this project. an insult to her legacy. pic.twitter.com/J0J1VgLu53

Some fanscame to the defense of Scott, saying the transphobia claims were a reach. Hit to flip to see some of the reactions and tell us us where YOU stand on the issue. Is labeling Travis Scott “transphobic” over this fair or foul?
Travis Scott is a transphobic piece of sh*t.
Trans icon and mode @Amanda_Lepore was featured in his newest album cover, but the version he posted to Instagram has her edited out. Disgusting pic.twitter.com/fSQ95z7cty— Jack™ (@malibuperry) August 1, 2018
i like travis scott & i’m not saying throw the whole album away but, regardless of what the intention was, editing amanda lepore out of his album art AFTER the original work was posted is an active act of trans exclusion and it sucks to see that so blatantly ignored

amanda lepore hasn’t had a career spanning over three decades to be compared to travis fucking scott LMFAOOOOO

Travis Scott getting Amanda Lepore photoshopped out of the final cover photo for Astroworld because he's transphobic? Pretends to be shocked.

Travis Scott’s album cover is one of the best I’ve personally seen in a while but him being transphobic by removing the legendary Amanda Lepore is disgusting. The good sis Caitlyn Jenner better tell her son in law something before I do because ima hurt his feelings pic.twitter.com/tfg5f9UvDf

Very disappointing that Travis Scott edited out Amanda Lepore out of this David LaChapelle photo. Transphobic???? pic.twitter.com/W0pAJcerkK

Imagine if Travis Scott actually kept Amanda Lepore in the album cover, ppl would probably be championing him for being inclusive. Hell people probably wouldn’t have even noticed.
Instead he does this.

as a trans girl, i really hope that travis scott didn’t edit amanda lepore out of the album cover due to his transphobia but i can’t help but feel that’s obv what’s going on. ESPECIALLY bcuz amanda was the only model taken out to portray the “background” of the set better.

Travis Scott and rap fans trying their best to defend the photoshopping of Amanda Lepore out of the artwork he posted pic.twitter.com/EanrcyTDy3

to the people out there defending travis scott for editing out amanda lepore — even if it WAS an honest mistake and/or creative decision, it does not lessen the repercussions of erasing trans visibility. do better.

That Travis Scott is a transphobic pos for allowing the removal of the fabulous and talented Amanda Lepore from his cover art when it’s literally people like her that pioneered and catapulted show girl fashion https://t.co/hwKmnKLIsf

I really hate people like this… they want to control freedom of artistic expression now too. The amount of mental gymnastics you must have to do to think travis Scott is transphobic bc of his album cover is mind blowing. This ain’t it Chief. pic.twitter.com/sw34s3gFqq
