2019 NAACP Image Awards Winners List

The 2019 NAACP Image Awards were filled to the brim with black star power and top talent took home top trophies. The coupled up Carters, Jay Z and Beyonce, won big last night. Jay took home the prestigious President’s Award and thanked the women in his life throughout the years.

“I grew up believing I could do anything. I could accomplish anything because of those strong women in my house, so I’d like to dedicate this award to those beautiful women,” said Hov.

“I think I’ll start by saying a quote by our very humble and kind hearted president,” he jokingly began. “I was talking about Donald Glover.”

The rapper then quoted Abraham Lincoln. “It’s not the amount of years in your life. It’s the amount of life in your years that count in the end,” he said. “That quote, it embodies my beautiful grandmother, who I would like to dedicate this award to. Her name is Hattie White. She’s 93 years old.”

Later Beyoncé beat out LeBron James, “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler, Chadwick Boseman, and Regina King for Entertainer of the Year.

“Regina King, I love you so much, you’ve taught us patience, persistence and how to be masterful in your craft,” said Bey in her acceptance speech. “Chadwick Boseman is teaching children to dream and to see themselves as kings.”

“LeBron James has taught us that strength of all forms and leading by example and providing education for our kids. Ryan Coogler tells our stories in a way that celebrates our history, and proves that we do have power at the box office.”

Bey wore Balmain for the evening and showcased her winning look on IG.

Wakandan blockbuster “Black Panther” was also heavily celebrated during the awards taking home best film, best actor went to a Howard University repping Chadwick Boseman.  and breakthrough performance went to a surprised but grateful Letitia Wright.
