Tyrese Reacts To John Singelton’s Death, Says Director’s His Daughter’s Godfather
As the world is mourning the legendary John Singleton, his close friends and family are especially stricken with grief.
One such person is Tyrese who posted multiple tributes to his late friend including one where he detailed the story of how Singleton’s hit film “Baby Boy” was made. According to Tyrese, John personally came to his house to pitch him the role of Jody that he originally wanted to be played by Tupac.
Tyrese said that despite the home visit, John still made him audition for the role so he could “earn it” and he recalled how the audition room lit up when Taraji P. Henson came in to audition for Yvette.
“I had never seen this woman, heard of her or seen her but when I tell you she came in and took over the room. She was fearless, she was slapping me, pushing me, she was EVERYTHING,” wrote Tyrese in the 9-minute IG TV story.”
Tyrese also told fans that just before John’s death, he made him his daughter Soraya’s Godfather.
“You were just at the house……. Holding our new angel in your arms……. I asked you that day would you be Soraya’s God Father….. Your response was classic John “Of course N*** who else gonna be The Godfather”..? Love you bro… my heart hurts
So, so sad. We know Tyrese and so many others in Hollywood are in pain, we send them and the family our condolences.

Tyrese is mourning both John and his late “Fast And The Furious” costar Paul Walker.
