Famous Male Allies
Being a woman on this planet will forever and always be an amazing thing. But if you judge by the way the world treats women, you’d think that ladies have little to no value at all. But quite the contrary! Although women should be celebrated all day, err day — thank goodness for commemorative times like Women’s History Month, which helps folks realize how essential women are and have always been to this country and planet as a whole. And yet, they still get cut short in the grand scheme of things.
But just as it is with most oppressed communities in this nation, women’s plight to experience equality would not be fulfilled without the help of some good ol’ male allies. So, in honor of WHM — let’s take a look at some famous male celebs that have famously supported and protected our women without question. Like Us star Winston Duke who’s been using his platform to support causes like #HeForShe, a solidarity campaign for the advancement of gender equality.

Kravitz has many strong women in his life (like daughter Zoe Kravitz and ex-wife Lisa Bonet), which would probably explain why he believes the world should be ran solely by women. “I personally think women should be running the world…I believe women are so much more sensible, have so much better intuition, and ultimately are stronger.”

Back in 2017, the R&B crooner spoke candidly about why all men should be feminist.
“I’m always suspicious of people who become feminists only when they have a daughter. I thought of myself as a feminist before I had a daughter and before I was married. Having a daughter might reinforce that, but it shouldn’t be the only reason I care about women’s rights. If men care about women’s rights the world will be a better place.”

The only POTUS we acknowledge is such an ally that he penned a whole essay on feminism entitled “This Is What Feminism Looks Like” after deeming himself a feminist. “There’s still a lot of work we need to do to improve the prospects of women and girls here and around the world. And while I’ll keep working on good policies — from equal pay for equal work to protecting reproductive rights — there are some changes that have nothing to do with passing new laws. In fact, the most important change may be the toughest of all — and that’s changing ourselves.”

During a 2019 visit to Tomorrow’s Women Wirral in Birkenhead (a cause which aims to support women in vulnerable circumstances) with wife Meghan Markle, the Duke of Sussex declared ‘I’m a feminist’ and highlighted that it is “equally important for men to support the movement in female empowerment!” And he’s not just a regular feminist, he’s “a proud one” according to Meghan Markle.

Over the past years, Skateboard P has been very vocal about his stance on gender equality. Especially after he created the score for the 2016 award winning film Hidden Figures.
