Our Sr. Content Director Janeé Bolden sat down with “Cherish The Day” stars Joy Bryant and Henry Simmons over Zoom last week to discuss talk about their easy onscreen chemistry and why their characters are an example of when it’s appropriate to reconnect with an old love.

We kicked off the interview by asking Joy and Henry to tell us some of their favorite things about each other!

Joy Bryant And Henry Simmons Had Natural Chemistry Filming “Cherish The Day”

“Henry is just the coolest, sweetest, generous actor, road dog, partner,” Joy Bryant told BOSSIP. “We giggled, we laughed, we had serious conversations, we had stupid conversations. He was such a pleasure and no drama whatsoever. And he is such a really kind person. He’s this gentle giant — cuz. he’s giant. He’s this hot gentle giant. That made it so easy and I feel we worked really well together so I feel that chemistry was just natural. He was a dream partner and road dog on this journey.”

The mutual admiration continued when Henry chimed in with his impressions of Joy.

“In addition to being beautiful and intelligent — because you just just tell she’s intelligent, she’s an incredible artist,” Henry Simmons told BOSSIP.”I’m not going to say actor, she’s an incredible actor. The one thing I learned, and I told her, ‘I’m going to learn something from you.’ She doesn’t just look at things as actor, she seeing not just tunnel vision, she’s seeing everything. And one thing I didn’t know, I don’t know if people know — she’s an incredible writer. Incredible writer. Very easy to work with, it was just a nice ebb and flow. We had chemistry right off the bat. The one thing I love about her, she’s a kindred spirit in this way — she does not settle for good. She wants it to be the best. It was nice to find somebody to dance with like that. There’s nothing more you can ask for from a costar.”

“We were dance partners and remember you didn’t want to dance?” Joy laughed. “But we got through it.”
