Suge Knight continues to soldier on in his lawsuit against Kanye West over getting shot in the leg at a 2005 MTV Video Awards party at a Miami nightclub. Meanwhile, Yeezy is soaking up Hawaiian sun when he’s not in the studio working on his next project. Pop the hood for details.

Mr Knight is seeking more than $1million in damages after he was shot in the leg at an August 2005 party hosted by Mr West ahead of the MTV Video Music Awards.

The former Death Row Records boss claims the rapper and the Shore Club failed to provide adequate security.

Both Mr West and the club’s owners have denied the claims in court papers.

No arrests have been made over the shooting.

Mr Knight’s lawyer, Marc Brumer, said his client had paid medical bills of $200,000 after his right femur was shattered.

The amount Mr Knight was seeking also covered a 15-carat diamond earring worth $135,000 lost in the incident, Mr Brumer said.

“He’s an icon in the music industry. He walks in a room and he lights it up,” Mr Brumer said. “He had an expectation of security there… How someone came with a gun into a very VIP party, that just doesn’t meet the smell test in life.”

Mr Knight claims that not enough was done to keep people with weapons out of the club.

US District Judge Patricia Seitz has scheduled the trial to begin on 6 December.

*DEAD*!

Sorry…we just flatlined.

Give us a second to recover from “He walks in a room and it lights it up”.

It’s no secret that Suge is broke, going after Kanye and MTV actually isn’t such a bad idea, especially since he probably did put out some money to pay those hospital bills. Now for the more important news. Kanye is taking a break from Amber’s strap on loving to get in more work on his next album Good A*s Job, expected for release June 2010:

A source close to the ‘Heartless’ rapper has confirmed the release date of the LP – presently titled ‘Good A*s Job’ – and says Kanye is presently putting the finishing touches to recordings at his Hawaii home studio.

Rappers and producers involved with the project have said it marks a return to his New York hip-hop roots, after the more melodic departure of 2008 album ‘808s and Heartbreak’.

Former A Tribe Called Quest member Q-Tip recently revealed his involvement, saying: “I just try to work with people who I admire or who I think has got it. So right now I’m working on Nas’ s**t, about to work with Kanye on his s**t.”

Wu-Tang Clan member and main producer RZA, producer-and-rapper Pete Rock, and producer No I.D. have also flown to Kaye’s Diamond Head studio to work on the record. Although Rock has denied he is involved, it is widely believed he is bluffing and has been sworn to secrecy by Kanye.

Despite reportedly falling out with the rapper, Drake confirmed earlier this year he would feature on Kanye’s latest project.

He said: “Me and Kanye, when we do come together, it’s great. We have great chemistry. In a couple of weeks I’m going to Hawaii so I can work with him and No I.D. some more.”

Yeezy has yet to make a wack album, and we’re happy to hear this one won’t involve autotune. If Suge wins his lawsuit, Ye can probably pay the damages from first week sales alone.
