When in prison, put EVERYBODY on blast! SMH

“They had to know.”

Breaking his silence, Ponzi fiend Bernie Madoff said in a jailhouse interview that the big banks and hedge funds he did business with while orchestrating his $65 billion fraud knew or should have known that the astonishing profits his investments yielded were based on fraud.

“They had to know,” Madoff told author Diana Henriques, who is writing a book on the scandal. “But the attitude was sort of, ‘If you’re doing something wrong, we don’t want to know.’ ”

Madoff, speaking from the federal prison in Butner, NC, where he is serving a 150-year sentence for his epic fraud, was making his first public comments since his December 2008 arrest.

Although Madoff contends that his family knew nothing of his illegal dealings, everyone involved is not innocent.

The legendary con man insisted his wife, Ruth, and sons Andrew and Mark, were innocent of any crimes and knew nothing of his deceit.

“They knew nothing,” Madoff insisted.

But he told Henriques — whose book “The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust,” is scheduled for spring publication by Henry Holt & Company — that unidentified banks and hedge funds were “complicit” in his scheme.

He accused them of “willful blindness” to clear warning signs in his filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulatory agencies that his numbers didn’t add up when compared with other available data.

“The attitude was sort of, ‘If you’re doing something wrong, we don’t want to know,’ ” Madoff said, without identifying any bank or fund by name.

We’re sure they did know, problem is if you wanted to save yourself a lil time you were supposed to go out like Nino Brown and start screaming names in the court room! Miss HAWKINS!
