Shaquille O'Neal to be sworn in as a reserve deputy sherriff in Worcester county in Massachucets

WORCESTER — Boston Celtics center Shaquille O’Neal will accompany Worcester County Sheriff Lewis G. Evangelidis on a visit tomorrow to the Mercy Center, 25 West Chester St.

The 15-time All-Star NBA player will spend time with the clients and then be sworn in as a member of the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriff Association. The event is not open to the public.

Mr. O’Neal, who is active in community and charitable work, will be the first member of the organization sworn in by Sheriff Evangelidis.

“The sheriff is committed to expanding the role that the WCRDSA plays in local communities and hopes that making Shaq his first member will help set the tone for others to volunteer to give back to their communities,” said sheriff spokesman David Tuttle.
