The Most Notable Women In Historically Black Sororities

We’ve spent some time talking about the famous members of Historically Black Greek Letter Organizations, now it’s the ladies’ turn. Here are some notable famous ladies that are members of sororities.

Phylicia Rashad – Alpha Kappa Alpha – She was America’s mom for almost a decade and one of the most beloved television personalities of the 80s. Rashad is still doing her thing in movies like For Colored Girls.

Alicia Keys – Alpha Kappa Alpha – She’s an honorary member, but she fits the mold with her fine self. She’d look right at home next to the lovely AKA’s at Howard or Spelman.

Star Jones – Alpha Kappa Alpha – Say what you want, and you will, but Star is an accomplished lawyer and TV personality. Those are some big accomplishments, despite what NeNe tells you.

Esther Rolle – Zeta Phi Beta – She’s a legendary TV mom too from back in the day. Her portrayal of Florida from “Good Times” is iconic.

Zora Neale Hurston – Zeta Phi Beta – Remember reading Their Eyes Were Watching God in high school? It’s a classic book written by the lovely Zora. She also used to get chopped down by Langston Hughes, but that’s a different story.

Ruby Dee – Delta Sigma Theta – See all of those actresses running around on the big screen? They can all thank Ruby Dee for her accomplishments. She broke so many barriers and her beauty was something to behold.

Keshia Knight Pulliam – Delta Sigma Theta – She’s the sexiest woman on this list. Rudy done grown up! She went from a child star to a working woman and looked fly the whole way.

Nikki Giovanni – Delta Sigma Theta – A revolutionary poet. But the coolest aspect of her? She has “Thug Life” tatted on her chest in honor of Tupac. #gangsta
