Peacock dropped the first trailer for the highly anticipated reunion on Wednesday, August 26. The special was filmed at Universal Studios Hollywood in front of a live studio audience and will give fans a closer look at where things stand with their favorite Islanders after a summer of romance, drama and plenty of mess.

Ariana Madix and Andy Cohen are teaming up to host the reunion, which will check in on the couples who found love in Fiji, including season 8 winners Trinity Tatum and Bryce Dettloff and runners-up Aniya Harvey and Carl Lee Schmidt.

Things seem to be going pretty well for Aniya and Carl, who are sitting together during the reunion. But Ariana, 41, couldn’t resist bringing up some of the jokes about whether Carl, 28, can handle all of Aniya’s energy.

“There were some jokes that Carl can’t handle all of that,” Ariana tells Aniya, 23.

“I fear he can,” Aniya responds with a laugh. “It’s been great.”

Not everyone appears to be leaving the reunion on such good terms, though.

In one particularly awkward moment, Kenzie Annis shows off her signature splits while wearing a short red dress. Melanie Moreno doesn’t exactly look impressed, noticeably rolling her eyes as the moment unfolds.

The camera then cuts to Jen Terry, who sums up the entire situation with two words: “So messy!”

Things get even more heated when bombshell Sol Dean and Melanie face off. Sol calls Melanie an “antagonist,” while Melanie doesn’t hold back with her response.

“You’re just a liar,” she fires back.

KC Chandler and his girlfriend Tierra “Titi” Davis also find themselves in the hot seat as they face criticism from some of their fellow Islanders. But it looks like at least one person is ready to own up to their behavior.

Aniya seemingly reflects on some of her own actions, admitting, “My immediate thought was, ‘I need to go and apologize.’”

Season 8 quickly became one of the biggest reality TV shows of the summer, with Islanders heading to Fiji to find connections while competing in games, challenges and, of course, navigating plenty of relationship drama.

And while fans have been busy speculating about what went down during the reunion taping, Trinity, 22, already shut down one particularly wild rumor.

Earlier this month, a fan account claimed the season 8 winner had been escorted out of the reunion. Trinity quickly denied the report in the comments on TikTok.

“This is not true idk where this info came from lmaoo,” she wrote, per Us Magazine. “I hate I even have to say this but don’t believe everything on the net lol I did not get escorted out. Also we never had an altercation but goodnight my loves.”

Madix has also been teasing fans about what they can expect when the Islanders reunite. The host previously revealed that the special will feature “unseen footage” that could help clear up some of the stories and assumptions that have circulated since the season wrapped.

“Everybody came there ready to say exactly how they feel, and if they had a chip on their shoulder or something they wanted to bring up, they were ready to come and talk about it,” the Emmy-nominated host told Entertainment Weekly.

She added that those conversations took plenty of unexpected turns depending on the Islanders and situations involved, but ultimately felt the reunion was “the perfect conclusion to the season.”
