Police Capture Fugitive Father Arthur Morgan Accused Of Killing 2-Year-Old Daughter, Throwing Her Body Into Park Stream Still Buckled In Car Seat

SMH. You can run but you can’t effin’ hide. The father of 2-year-old Tierra Morgan, the little girl whose body was found in a New Jersey park stream, still strapped into her car seat, has been apprehended.

Authorities in California have nabbed a New Jersey fugitive suspected of killing his 2-year-old daughter by hurling her into a stream while she was buckled into a car seat.

Arthur Morgan III was busted in San Diego about 1:30 p.m. New York time when U.S. Marshals swooped down on a home where he had been staying, The Associated Press reported.

The Marshals had been watching over the home Tuesday after getting a tip from New Jersey authorities that Morgan could be using it as a hideout, the U.S. Marshals office in San Diego told the wire service.

They spotted the fugitive on the back porch. When they moved in, it appeared he was going to try to make a run for it, but he was collared without much fuss.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s office in New Jersey issued a statement Tuesday night, confirming the collar.

A national manhunt that included the FBI was launched to bring Morgan in after the body of his daughter, Tierra Morgan-Glover, was found partially submerged in a creek in Shark River Park on Nov. 22, authorities said.

The park is in Wall Township, N.J., some 20 miles from the little girl’s Lakehurst home.

Morgan, 27, of Ocean Township, had picked up the toddler the day before for a court-approved visit to see the movie “Happy Feet Two.”

He was supposed to bring Tierra back home to her mother, Imani Benton, 24, by 6 p.m. that night.

Morgan was last seen on a train station platform in Asbury Park, N.J., The AP reported.

A warrant was issued for Morgan’s arrest soon after Tierra’s body was found. He was being sought on charges of endangerment and custodial interference, but was charged with murder once he was captured because his daughter’s death was ruled a homicide.

The FBI also charged him with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. He was being held in the San Diego County Jail, pending an extradition hearing.
