In the midst of the hub-bub yesterday, one little fact was neglected…

DELONTE WASN’T ON THE DALLAS MAVERICKS CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM!!!

Here’s an update and a correction on the story about Delonte West supposedly not being allowed to tag along with his Dallas Mavericks teammates for today’s celebration at the White House.

Despite West’s comments to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that he was “banned” from the celebration of last season’s NBA champions, he actually wasn’t.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said West could have taken part. West inferred in his remarks to the newspaper that he couldn’t attend because of his weapons conviction in 2010.

West wasn’t a member of the championship squad, and only joined the Mavericks this season.

Lil’ ‘Lonte decided to play the victim role when he told the Dallas Star-Telegram:

“I’m banned from going to the White House, so I’m not going to make it. But I’m going home to D.C., I’m just not allowed to go to the White House. That’s what happens when you make bad decisions in your life. You can’t go to the White House.”

Excuse us Delonte, but are you on drugs? Did you FORGET that you weren’t on the damn team when they won? We’re just sayin…
