Skin Bleaching Singer Dencia Fires Shots At Lupita Nyong’o
Fresh off Lupita Nyong’o recent Oscar win you’d think it would be hard-pressed to find anyone who would have beef with the Hollyweird’s newest sweetheart. But, apparently African singer Dencia is already firing shots at the talented actress.
Lupita recently gave a speech at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon, where she openly discussed how she helped a fan reconsider using Dencia’s whitening skin cream, “Whitenicious.” The insecure fan noticed how Lupita loved and embraced her dark skin-tone and realized she didn’t need Dencia’s bleaching cream.
“‘Dear Lupita,’ it reads. ‘I think you’re really lucky to be this Black but yet this successful in Hollywood overnight. I was just about to buy Dencia’s Whitenicious cream to lighten my skin when you appeared on the world map and saved me.
“My heart bled a little when I read those words. And so I hope that my presence on your screens and in the magazines may lead you, young girl, on a similar journey. That you will feel the validation of your external beauty but also get to the deeper business of being beautiful inside. There is no shame in black beauty.”
Dencia later took to her Twitter account to blast Lupita:
