Trey breaks his silence….
Trey Songz Speaks On Beef With August Alsina
Talented R&B new comer August Alsina has made a name for himself over the course of the last two years and the recent release of his debut album Testimony has been met with rave reviews, but he’s also been making headlines for other reasons. Earlier this year, August shocked fans when he revealed a rift in the relationship between he and fellow R&B crooner Trey Songz in multiple interviews.
As August continued to speak on the situation publicly and put the details of their brief beef on blast before infamously sending the message that he was done speaking about it on 106 & Park, Trey never once clapped back or even addressed the issue….until now.
He had this to say when asked about his beef with August during a recent interview with Capital Xtra radio.
On his beef with August:
August is like a little brother to me. You know what I mean? I took him on early in his career. We had a discrepancy and he didn’t know how to deal with that. He hasn’t been in a situation where he has to answer the same question a million times. That’s frustrating so you know, I believe he spoke and said some things he didn’t really mean. Out of pressure.
I really care about him. I mean, he got a lot going on in his life, outside of music. And I know that about him.
Trey also cleared up why he didn’t respond initially to August going in on him in several interviews and what the status of their friendship is now. Hit the flip to hear what else he had to say and peep the interview clip.
On why he didn’t respond initially to August airing out their beef:
I didn’t feel the need to speak out against him; that really don’t do nothing for me. I don’t wanna see nobody do bad. Especially if a new artist come in and I think they’re talented. [Otherwise], I wouldn’t have jumped on his song or been all in this picture, that picture. Have him here, there with me…On the current status of their friendship:
I mean, I like the dude. You know what I mean? So everything he said about me, it’s whatever because I want to see him do good and I get nothing out of talking down on people.
Gotta give it to Trey for taking the high road and letting his young homie have his moment to cool off, even if it was at his expense.
You can peep the whole interview clip below of Trey addressing the beef as well as another of him talking about needing space in relationships, being attracted to women who have their own things going on, whether or not “hoes” can be wifed and more.
