@Sheila E – honestly in high fashion it’s the opposite. Ever heard of Grace Jones, Naomi Campbell, or Alek Wek? Actually most European designers LOVE the darker skin because it makes their bright clothes pop!!

It’s lighter skin models, like Tyra although she’ll never use it a crutch, who get’s the short end of the stick in haute couture. European designers feel like if they want lighter skin, they would go with a white model, olive skin usually a brazillian, and darker skin usually African or Jamaican.

Just like Tyson Beckford is Jamaican and none of the light skin brothers has taken his spot yet!! And it’s been about 10 YEARS!!!
