kiddie weapons

We really are at the End of Days. A group of school children in Waycross, Georgia were planning on using the items above to jack up their teacher.

“A group of third-graders plotted to attack their teacher, bringing a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items for the job and assigning children tasks including covering the windows and cleaning up afterward. School officials alerted police Friday after a pupil tipped off a teacher that a girl had brought a weapon to school. [Police Chief] Tanner said the students apparently planned to knock the teacher unconscious with a crystal paperweight, bind her with the handcuffs and tape and then stab her with the knife. The children, ages 8 to 10, were apparently mad at the teacher because she had scolded one of them for standing on a chair.”

This sh*t is out of hand, out of pocket, and straight unfathomable. This sounds like a plot from “The Wire”, except for this ish is real. Apparently these kids are learning more than reading, writing and arithmetic at this school. SMH.

  • so 510 bay

  • truself

how dumb are ya’ll to ask how can 8 and 9 year olds think of this.

With all the violence that is in movies, tv and cartoons and ya’ll ask how? Don’t be dumb. Then there are videos and songs which make it seems as if there’s nothing to it but to do it. Some parents let their kids watch anything and take their butts to see movies that are not child friendly b/c they are too lazy to do the right thing. This is only the beginning b/c we keep making exscuses for everyone.

We may not want to admit it but it takes a village and now society (because we are too influenced and affected by tv not just immediate suroundings) to raise a child.

We do not care about humanity anymore it just monetary!!!!!!

  • Lady Architect

They need their behinds whipped and I think they should get a taste of juvenile hall to straighten them out. I don’t care if they are kids. If they were successful with their plan which seemed well thought out this teacher’s family would’ve been mourning her death simply because she was doing her job and the little kids got upset. SMH where are the parents? What happened to checking bookbags and packing lunches and things? What do these children watch on TV that they were able to think like this. Some parents just don’t do their jobs.

  • Feezly

Maybe they didn’t know what they are doing. They are just kids. I think I can understand their ignorance just like I can unsterstand some celebrities at the celebrity club wealthychats cannot answer some basic questions which can be answered by students in Primary schools.

  • Meagan

We are living in the end of days. I was thinking we all better get right with God this morning when I saw this on the news. These kids today are too grown and fast me.

  • Negrodamus Believes

Negrodamus was suspended as a youngster. During show and tell two Jewish kids(twins) were passing out traditional Jewish foods and explaining their culture. Being a little asshole, I stood up and yelled “Hail Hitler” with the salute. They weren’t offended(Jewish kids) because like me, they didn’t really know what it meant. Lol I remember that teacher grabbing me by the arm and whisking my ass up to the principals office..Obviously being an adult and outstanding citizen that I am today, I realize how grossly ignorant and irresponsible that act was, but kids will be kids and hopefully they learn, progress, and move forward from this.

  • bree

LMFAO! oh snap! 3rd graders?..i started to dislike teachers in high school, not elementary..these kids deserve punishment- this stunt is reckless!

  • GOD’s Trombone

so glad that they got caught

  • jusplayit04 The Great

Somebody needs a good ol fashion ass whipping. But we know you parents today don’t think it applies for their kids so that’s why you have little cases like this. Parent’s (one more reason to the bust that Ass)

Keeps them out of Jail in the long run

  • andrea

    dude, come on now…

  • Lisa

Read this yesterday and it was so unbelievable that I thought it was an April Fool joke.

  • Truth Hurts

As an educator, I find this frightening. True enough, they are very young children, but how many news stories have you heard of a child shooting another child, or doing something devious, such as sexually molesting a younger child, or hurting an animal. These are things way beyond what we would expect them to do. When I was a teacher, I wouldn’t leave any type of drink on my desk.

As educators, there are times when you have to reprimand children. They do get angry for the moment, unfortunately they don’t realize why they were reprimanded, which is why you seriously have to explain to them why you gave them a time out, or time off of play time, or a phone call home. Imagine a coffee cup sitting on a desk and a student decides to pour a cleaning product into it.

This is the reality we live in. Now, I work as an administrator and counselor. Several thoughts cross my mind when I have to suspend a student, or have a student put up for expulsion.Simply because of the times we live in, and the environment in which I work. I work in a very impoverished, high crime rate city. The children live different lives outside of school.

One of my coworkers was held at gunpoint and had his car taken( in the daylight). I had a child try to approach me as I walked to my car. I know he was going to try to rob me, but I am aware of my surroundings and made a very wise and quick decision.

This is not a joke. We complain about schools and teachers not doing their jobs. But honestly, I see both sides. I see too many parents argue with me about their son or daughter..And when they get older, they get into bigger trouble.

There are several students I have personally watch grow up, end up in jail..from things to robbery, rape, drugs…this is sad.

At third and fourth grade, the students don’t need to be taken to jail,( I don’t think they will understand that)but they need to be talked to. And they need some type of consequence, not necessarily physical.I don’t think corporal punishment helps. It’s often over used and loses it’s effectiveness.

Think about it , how many parents do you hear say I beat him all the time, and he keeps doing it. If it doesn’t work the first, second, third and fourth time..Shouldn’t you try something different?

We need to wake up people. Seriously, what does the future look like for our young people? It’s scary. I have been in this field for 18 years. I love what I do, but like I said, it’s rough.

And of course I am not in it for the money, I do it because I love it. I could be working in a corporation making a whole lot of money.

So please keep this in mind when you are so quick to down educators. Don’t get me wrong, there is good and bad in all types of profession. But is EVERY teacher lying on your child and is EVER diffent school lying on your chyild.

    We have to wake up!!

The Columbine high school dudes wasnt even this intricate, they just started busting. This world is becoming too much, now what will the media blame this on? Since everytime teenagers or black youth do something like this they blame it on hip hop. Thats food for thought, you do the dishes.

Parents need to turn off the tv & start raising these little bastards so they won’t grow & rob me. Did you hear about the 10yr old girl that tried to rob a corner store with a rock just a few days ago. She came in & threw the rock at the cashier & demanded money. I would have came from around the counter & gave her a grown up ass whooping.

  • Grace

Another thing……….teach your children to be leaders NOT followers. There was a little ring leader among them. When your child is so insecure that they will follow just have a sence of belonging your child will have a hard long life. The prisons are filled with accomplices who were just along for the ride in the get-away car.

If you are the driver & yo boy kill someone, you are just as responsible. If doesn’t matter if you & Leroy agreed that there would be no killing before the robbery. If Leroy go in there & his finger slip……Guess what……..Life sentence for both of you.

  • NotoriousOne

WOW…this ish is just mind-bogglin’!! I’m thinking these kids got this from watching waaaay too much TV and watching late night TV cause last time I checked Spongebob wasn’t tryna knock anyone off like that.

  • http://onedroprule.org/about1720.html Nita

    there’s something in the water.

    there’s something in the beef.

and parents have become ineffective at discipline. you don’t mastermind a brutal stabbing unless you have no respect for authority — or the consequences — whatsoever.

what drugs have these children been fed, and how involved are their parents in their lives?

they’re screwed with or without jail. they just need military school, not jail.

What posses them to get together and plan this?! 3rd graders just don’t sit down and think of sh*t like this. Like I told my co-workers there is more to this…….I just hate to believe our world has hit a new low when kids this young decide to work together on a project such as this! Damn get together and do a book report! ;p

    this is the whole story

This photo provided by Chief of Police of Waycross, Ga., Tony Tanner, Tuesday, April 1, 2008. A group of third-graders plotted to attack their teacher, bringing a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items for the job and assigning children tasks including covering the windows and cleaning up afterward, police said Tuesday. The plot by as many as nine boys and girls at Center Elementary School in south Georgia was a serious threat, Waycross Police Chief Tony Tanner said. (AP Photo/Waycross Georgia Police Department)

Cops: 3rd-Graders Aimed to Hurt Teacher

By RUSS BYNUM – 19 hours ago

WAYCROSS, Ga. (AP) — A group of third-graders plotted to attack their teacher, bringing a broken steak knife, handcuffs, duct tape and other items for the job and assigning children tasks including covering the windows and cleaning up afterward, police said Tuesday.

The plot involving as many as nine boys and girls at Center Elementary School in south Georgia was a serious threat, Waycross Police Chief Tony Tanner said.

School officials alerted police Friday after a pupil tipped off a teacher that a girl had brought a weapon to school. Tanner said the students apparently planned to knock the teacher unconscious with a crystal paperweight, bind her with the handcuffs and tape and then stab her with the knife.

“We did not hear anybody say they intended to kill her, but could they have accidentally killed her? Absolutely,” Tanner said. “We feel like if they weren’t interrupted, there would have been an attempt. Would they have been successful? We don’t know.”

The children, ages 8 to 10, were apparently mad at the teacher because she had scolded one of them for standing on a chair, Tanner said.

Two of the students were arrested on juvenile charges Tuesday and a third arrest was expected. District Attorney Rick Currie said other students told investigators they didn’t take the plot seriously or insisted they had decided not to participate.

“Some of the kids said, `We thought they were just kidding,’” Currie said. “Another child was supposed to bring a toy pistol, and he told a detective he didn’t bring it because he thought he would get in trouble.”

Currie said the children are too young to be charged as adults, and probably too young to be sentenced to a youth detention center.

Police seized a steak knife with a broken handle, steel handcuffs, duct tape, electrical and transparent tape, ribbons and the paperweight from the students, Tanner said.

Currie said he decided to seek juvenile charges against two girls, ages 9 and 10, who brought the knife and paperweight and an 8-year-old boy who brought tape. He said all three students faced charges of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and both girls were being charged with bringing weapons to school.

Nine children have been given discipline up to and including long-term suspension, said Theresa Martin, spokeswoman for the Ware County school system. She would not be more specific but said none of the children had been back to school since the case came to light.

The purported target is a veteran educator who teaches third-grade students with learning disabilities, including attention deficit disorder, delayed development and hyperactivity, friends and parents said.

The scheme involved a division of roles, Tanner said. One child’s job was to cover windows so no one could see outside, he said. Another was supposed to clean up after the attack.

“We’re not sure at this point in the investigation how many of the students actually knew the intent was to hurt the teacher,” Tanner said.

He said the teacher told detectives the children involved weren’t known as troublemakers.

“You can’t dismiss it,” Tanner said. “But because they are kids, they may have thought this was like a cartoon — we do whatever and then she stands up and she’s OK. That’s a hard call.”

The parents of the students have cooperated with investigators, who aren’t allowed to question the children without their parents’ or guardians’ consent, he said. Authorities have withheld the children’s names.

Martin told The Florida Times-Union of Jacksonville, Fla., that administrators would follow school system policy and state law in disciplining the students.

“From what I understand, they were considered pretty good kids,” Martin said. “But we have to take this seriously, whether they were serious or not about carrying this through, and that’s what we did.”

Four mothers of other third-grade students at Center Elementary called for the immediate expulsion of the suspected plotters.

Stacy Carter and Deana Hiott both cited school system policy stating that any student who brings “anything reasonably considered to be a weapon” is to be expelled for at least the remainder of the school year.

“We don’t want our children around them,” Carter told the Times-Union. “The one with the knife could have stabbed my child or someone else’s child at lunch or out on the playground.”

“This is an isolated incident, an aberration. … We have good kids,” Center Principal Angie Coleman told the newspaper.

Damn…these must be the kids of Lex Luther; potential criminal masterminds. But, seriously kids are a whole lot smarter than what some may think. People are quick to say “oh it’s just a child. They don’t know any better.” Yeah right. It depends on what that child has absorbed growing up. How developed or over-developed their minds are that may may have thinking far beyond their age group. The El-Salvadorian gang, MS-13, was exposed to be a complex criminal orgization spanning the continents with a sophisticated hierarchy in place. The point being when the leader of this gang was incarcerated he named a 13 yr. old as the “numero uno” general overall. Since then this gang has actually grown under this “childs” leadership. And don’t forget the numerous ancient empires that were ruled by child kings. Just a thought on what the potential of a child could be for better or worse.

  • nica

Eight to ten years old? This is madness. There was no way in the world that I would have banded with this group when I was this age or any age. I was too scared of my mom.

First, kids today aren’t afaid of their parents like we were back in the day (born in the 1960s and 70s). Plus, parents were involved in their kid’s lives. Mine knew what I was doing before I did. Talk about scary.

Another thing, parents and teachers talked. Hell, mine “hung out” playing cards at their house or mine. They knew each other well enough that I couldn’t disrespect my teachers at all or they would have called my mom, at work (they had her number). Not to mention, my mom gave my teachers 2nd level parent authority. This meant that if I acted up in school (which I never did because), my teachers had the right to spank me on the spot.

It’s a new day because parent’s aren’t involved like mine was. They are too self absorbed in their own lives and their children are just by-products.

For being reprimanded for standing on a chair? No wonder we can’t get good teachers. Who will teach these gangstas?

Word I laughed like most of us here when I heard this story on the news until I actually read what was going on….

This sh#@ is getting out of hand – how in the hell can 3rd graders think and act on how to kill a teacher. Have these kids never had an a*& whippin b4?

Man I thought about doing a lot of dumb sh*% but most of it I never acted on. We gotta get our babies back. I got two girls and I’ll be damned if my seeds try to pull this off.

I’m done bugging out 4 now

  • Detroiter4Life

    @ the real

LOL!! Good play on words! I feel and you are right I used to be scared to cut class (I did do it) it is a new world now and it’s just getting more ridiculous

and BTW the kids were black. ;p

  • rhodesgal

i blame it on the tv programmes. there r age restrictions on some of these programmes for a reason, KIDS AINT SUPPOSED 2 WATCH EM!!!! parents should put sanctions on the tv programmes watched by their kids.

  • Encyclopedia Brown

This almost seems too clever. Can we just forget about the kids and blame this one on the man?

  • lionesspurrr

“Apparently these kids are learning more than reading, writing and arithmetic at this school.” AT SCHOOL?!! How about learning at home!!!?

  • Detroiter4Life

    @ ency brown

ROTFL!!! ;o) Yeah lets do that!! If all else fails it’s whiteys and the systems fault! ;p

Okay how about parents should monitor what their kids watch! I don’t play when it comes to the things my kids watch I’m strict on that Nick and Disney BS too!! I was too outdone to see Zoey (B Spears) pregnant sister on the show with her tummy! That was the end of that show and I will break my foot off in any of my kids ass if i find them watching that BS or anything else I’ve said no to!

  • DaisyDooks

Ok, now for the controversy…were the children white or black? Inquiring minds want to know.

  • WordtotheWise

Reformed GammaRay @ 2:23 – a stingray tail? LMAO -crying!!!!!

They said the kids had learning disabilities, attention deficit disorders, etc. They weren’t too disabled to think up a plot like this. I might be speculating, but you didn’t hear about all this madness when people were allowed to whip their kids. Shoot, my mother instilled the fear of God and her in me.

Nica, you made an excellent point. I know teachers today that say when they inform a parent that their child did somethign wrong, the parent goes to the school acting like a fool screaming not at the child, but the TEACHER. They defend their bad kids.

  • DIAMONDCHEERS

man, i got GOOSEBUMPS thinking about the asswhippin ida put on them kids. u wanna act grown, ida given that ass a GROWN MAN asswhoopin. . .and then beat they behinds at 3AM EVERYDAY for good measure!! they wouldn’t have thought about no BS like that ever again in LIFE!!! i wish my child would!!!! **crazy evil woman smile**

  • Blue Eyed Angel

Just saw this on the news..and this is trully crazy. We are at the end of times..

  • WordtotheWise

My mother’s friend said she tried to kill her teenaged son for cussing at her. She tried to tear his head off. The police came to the door and informed her that she should not put her hands on her child, and then he winked at her. In other words, “I’ve gotta say this lady, but you know what to do.” That’s the truth. You see, if they play that mess with the police, they won’t hesitate to tazz them or take that night stick to their behind.

  • Black Barbie

I work in a school and I see this behavior, not only from students, but from their parents when you call to report it and ask for the parents involvement.

I’ve had students that unfortunately, I thought would grow up to commit crimes, become involved in illegal activities, or other types of anti-social behavior. Although you don’t want to label anyone’s child or speak negatively into their lives, after a while, you’ve seen enough and you know a naughty one when you see one.

I would rather see their intellect used for something positive. If he (and his friends) can plan this thoroughly, imagine what they could do, if re-directed!

  • Ghost

A lot of kids are placed in special education because momma can get a check for how mentally mess up that kid is depending on the government. Or they can AVOID being in regular classes and get EXTRA attention. Or avoid taking certain state tests and be able to graduate without taking them.

I’m in the education field and many folk have learned how to get their get kid into special ed when the child doesn’t need to be.

Retest those kids and I bet they had no business being in any type of special edu classes. You don’t plot that well and be in special edu-George Bush would be recruiting them for Iraq.

I’m sure folks are going to say it’s the teacher’s fault. When do we stop blaming teachers and go after parents? We as educators are getting sick and tired of being blamed for all these sorry kids.

  • ARTOFWAR

To those of you that stated that these kid should get their asses whooped.

Do you all really think that’s a good idea? Remember, these kid were going to whack out their teacher, just for telling them not to stand up on their chairs. And ya’ll want to whoop that ass. Ok, go whoop that ass. But ya’ll better hope that they don’t find out where you live, or work. LOL TONY SOPRANO peewee crew will get at ya. LOL E.

  • Lik_Wid_Cherry

Shouldn’t have pissed off the kids….teacher’s fault.

  • http://www.lovingmeans@aol.com 1TruDiva w/ The PlatinumVocals!!!

I think a lottery needs to be taken up and the winner will be able to beat the helloutta them little mufukkas!

**thinkin’ of the things I can tear them asses up with**

    1. A rollerskate. I’m talking about the old fashioned metal one that slipped on over your shoe.

    2. The yellow race car track. (Hot wheels)

    3. A mop.

    4. A broom.

    5. A toilet plunger.

    6. The phone receiver.

    7. Extension cord.

    8. A metal spatula.

    9. A shoe.

    10. A bicycle inner tube.

Yup! It might not help but it would damn sure pleasure me!

Umm I used to be a teacher in NYC public schools and I can attest that teacher-student interaction is sooo restricted that the most this teacher could have done was raise her voice at them. The truth is these kids are plain crazy and their parents don’t raise them right. As a teacher you’re not allouwed to touch, yell, or even be sarcastic with a student. They have all the “rights” in the classroom. If a student hits a teacher and the teacher reports it they ask you what you did to start it. These kids are crazy. I am glad I got out.
