We broke it here first: Nas joined members of ColorOfChange.org & MoveOn.org to deliver over 600,000 petitions to put and end to their racist propaganda. Here he’s seen delivering a speech to the press. Props to Nas for standing up for what he believes in. I always wonder why Jay-Z doesn’t make political/social stands like this.

NAS GOOD FOR YOU I SUPPORT THIS ACT AND SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE BEHIND THIS IS GREAT.. HE DOES NOT HAVE TO DO THIS HE SOLD MILLIONS OF ALBUMS THIS WEEK AND STILL IS GROUNDED AND CONCERNED ENOUGH TO STEP UP AND VOICE HIS OPINION. THAT SHOWS WHAT TYPE OF MAN HE IS

  • WhatsYoursIsMine

D@MNIT I missed him on the Colbert Report! I would have loved to have seen this. I’ll have to catch it tonight.

  • Lady Architect

I’m happy Nas did this. It’s harder for people that are not celebrities to get things like this threw with the media.

  • Emerald

Fox is and has been definitely out of line for the longest. I’m mad nobody’s said anything thusfar. Thanks Nas. I just may go out and get your cd, although I’ve never been a fan.

    @Tanesha….

Jay-Z has too much to lose. He’s taking a stance in other ways…by taking these old farts money and turning it into businesses. He’s leading by example with out having to make a speech by showing ni@#gs how to have black owned business, giving back to the community, and marrying his woman instead of knocking her up and making her a “baby mama”.

He’s beening an example of how to come from the streets and keeping street with his people without “selling out” to the white man.

I think this is a good time for blacks right now. We can show white America that we are more than singing, rapping, playing sports and shucking an jiving…

No boo boo try again. He sold a couple hundred thousand, but he’s still in the number one spot, so I get your drift.

    lol @sugar wall

Yeah where’s David, and Al, and Jesse?

  • SUNNYDAYZ

@ BIRD ….WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE THOUGHT OF NAS MAKING A SPEECH SCARES YOU HAVE YOU EVER HEARD HIM CONDUCT A PUBLIC SPEECH AND IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT NAS AS A RAPPER YOU WOULD KNOW FIRST THAT HE IS A VERY INTELLIGENT PERSON AND YOU WOULD NOT HAVE MADE THAT COMMENT EVERYONE KNOWS THAT NAS IS A VERY INTELLECTUAL INDIVIDUAL..I COULD SEE IF IT WAS ANOTHER RAPPER SOMEONE WHO IS ALL THUG ALL DAY EVERYDAY THAT CAN NOT SPEAK PROPER ENGLISH TO SAVE HIS LIFE.THEN I COULD SEE THAT COMMENT MAKING SENSE .BUT IT DOES NOT SO KNOCK IT OFF !

Nas needs to call me,so we can do this right, but he gets some cool points for standing up.We need to stand up more in our own community when blacks act a fool.

    @ southernbella

No disrespect, but Jay shucking and jiving with whitey too, cus if you think hee’s not you better think again. As far as the community goes, investigate the Brooklyn Yard’s project, Jay-Z’s heavily involved in driving plenty of black folks from their homes by “eminent domain,” So the Jets can have their stadium and about 15 or so high-rise luxury condos could surround the stadium.

Jay’s argument is that it’ll bring jobs to the community, but the only job this structure will bring is largely retail, which as we all know has low-income implications.

I live in Brooklyn, not very many of us can afford these new luxury condos popping up, but Jay and his ilk can. I have no respect for drug dealers, he might be legit now, but where did his “seed” money come from?

  • shaza

the stadium is actually for the Nets, not the Jets. carry on.

  • justaddhotmilk aka phoenix_simone_xoxo (aww aunt terri why did you have to die, i was coming to see you friday. r.i.p. ms. luckie, lynn-lynn loves you)

Definitely happy that Nasir took a stand for something that is positive and what he believes in. And one time for your boy Colbert bringing up a gun charge from over 10yrs ago, and calling Nasir a “gangsta rapper”. Reggin please!

I’m so sorry you have never acutally encountered a intellectual person. That is sad. If Nas is your idea of an educated person you obviously don’t have a lot of life experience. Nas is not educated and he often sounds ignorant when he speaks. Just because you think his raps are thought provoking doesn’t make him a scholar.

  • Aunt Viv

Good for Nas and congratulations on being #1!
