‘Nevermind’… Says Facebook.

The above photo sparked a 10-Day Facebook event called “Kissing Is Cool” after the social networking site yanked the image, which was originally posted as part of a same-sex kiss organized to protest a homophobic pub in the U.K. and (apparently the event page was also yanked along with the photo).

Long story short, it appears that whoever decided the photo and event protest page might provoke an obscenity lawsuit has since come to their senses and agreed it shouldn’t have been removed.

The Facebook “Kissing Is Cool” event posted this statement, reportedly from Facebook:

“The photo in question does not violate our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities and was removed in error. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Here is more information on the “Kissing Is Cool” event:

The event has been mostly a success. It has been found to be based on half truths as you can see on all the links posted. People respond to what they hear and see. Even though some of it turns out to be false.

The event was based on good intentions and remains so. No one should feel uncomfortable showing affection for someone they love. A kiss in friendship, in greeting, in departing and most importantly in love isn’t wrong. Be comfortable with who you are and who you love.

Thank you everyone for participating I would encourage you to keep the event going until the 27th. Post the pics for those who can’t.

Do you think images of gay people kissing are more obscene than photos of straight people doing the same thing?
