CNN just showed the white SUV being towed away. If the child is in the vehicle, I’m sure they don’t want to remove his body in such a public manner. What a horrible way to start a Monday…I was so hopeful for that little boy.

On Sunday, Illinois Department of Corrections spokeswoman Januari Smith said Balfour violated his parole because he is a suspect in the slayings and the boy’s disappearance.

According to law-enforcement sources, Balfour’s alibi the day of the killings has been contradicted by his girlfriend. Balfour was arrested at the woman’s Southwest Side home Friday night. Balfour and Julia Hudson had been separated for some time, his family members said. A family friend said Balfour recently had threatened to take Julian away.

This is horrible news to wake up to. God bless Jen and her sister in this difficult time. The car was found not too far away from where they apprehended the step father. That asshole will burn for what he did. The cops were not able to hold him thus far. My heart really goes out to the Hudson family.

Neighbors interviewed by the police Saturday, stated that Jennifer’s mother threw this animal out of her house last year for his violent rages, but Julia wanted him back. The mother should have thrown Julia out with him and let them move in their own place, but she kept trying to help Julia and her husband. Their were so many warning signs from this thug that Julia chose to ignore because she wanted “A DICK”, her own words condemn her.

There is one thing troubling; a curiousity.

Interestingly, they’ve had Balfour in custody since Friday night. He has not been charged with any crime. In fact, he would have been released last night had they not kept him due to a parole violation.

This is troubling. I assume they don’t have evidence against him (yet) and maybe they are building a case.

From all accounts, it seems to be him. I wonder if anyone else is involved. I can’t figure out why they have not yet charged him.

This is a shameful and cowardace act. I hate to say it but it just reinforces what other communities think of us. But I must say that other communities have the same type of heinous crime. This tragedy just happens to be our community. When things like this happen in their community we don’t go condemning their entire community. My heart goes out to their family.

Julia even wrote on her MySpace page that he’s the person she knows who’s the “most likely to be arrested.”

So, yes, I’m angry, sad, in disbelief that the lives of these individuals were so brutally taken — angry that it happened, angry that lives are now forever destroyed, angry that a child apparently has been murdered, and angry that a criminal — a felon — should never have had access to this family’s home.

But sometimes people with no criminal background commit horrible crimes. This is so horrible. I can’t even imagine how Jennifer feels. I heard she begged her mom to move out of the neighorhood, but she refused. Unfortunately, these tragic tales are common in the ‘hood. The neighbors heard gun shots earlier in the day…why didn’t anyone call the police? The bodies were not discovered until Julia came home. What is wrong with our people??? Why are we so numb to violence in our community? The mom and brother may have been saved if medical attention would’ve been there in time. Would gunshots have been ignored in a white neighborhood? NO! Someone would’ve atleast called the police to investigate!!!

Jennifer, I am so sorry that you and your sister have to feel this pain. I am sickened by the news about your nephew. I pray that he did not suffer. I hope that the person(s) that are responsible for these senseless crimes will be punished to the fullest extent of the law.

Authorities haven’t confirmed the body in the SUV is Julian but more than likely it is. They have only released information stating that a body of a young black boy was found in a white SUV that was in question. My condolences go out to Jennifer and her family. CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) — A body believed to be that of the missing 7-year-old nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson was found Monday inside an SUV, an FBI official and Chicago police said.

Speaking at a news conference on an unrelated matter, FBI Deputy Director John Pistole said the body is “believed to be” Hudson’s nephew, Julian King, and the FBI is working with the Chicago Police Department to confirm the identity.

Deputy Chief Cmdr. Wayne Gulliford said police were responding to “a call about a suspicious auto” in the west side of Chicago at approximately 7 a.m. when they found the body inside a parked white Chevy Suburban, which had a license plate matching the description in the child’s Amber Alert.

He had no details on the body, pending the medical examiner’s report.

Julian has been missing since Hudson’s mother and brother were found dead in their home Friday.

In his later life, W.E.B. Dubois recognized that leadership could arise from many levels, and grassroots efforts were also important to social change. My heart is so hurt right now…I was praying so hard that that baby would be spared. An entire family has been destroyed…murdered…what makes a person so angry and inhumane that he/she would do this. That could have been any of our mothers, sisters, brothers, babies…every day something tragic happens. It’s not just in the “hood.” Look at the white anchorwoman from Arkansas. She was 26 and beaten to death, every bone in her face was broken and she was slit from ear to ear and raped…that’s personal. She lived in an extreme upscale, affluent golf community. I doubt if that was a Black man. He would have been noticed and followed from jump. We’re living amongst some really monstrous inhumane beings and we need to figure out where this is coming from. There’s too many mentally unstable, angry and disgruntled people walking around this planet.

I do agree that women lacking in self esteem who date abusive men need to get a grip because they put their family and friends’ lives in danger. There are many levels to this crime. There’s so much to say but I’m too devastated. We need to have rap sessions where we can discuss our pains and anger with the objective of healing and getting to know each other better…I don’t know, I just thought I’d throw that in..(sigh) I’m so distraught over this. A howling dog alerted neighbors this morning to a white Chevrolet Suburban where police found the body of a young boy who may be the 7-year-old nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.

The boy was found on the floor in the back seat of the SUV, which had been missing since Hudson’s mother and brother were found shot to death Friday. Police were called around 7 a.m. today after a couple’s dog kept barking near the Suburban at 1313 S. Kolin Ave.

The medical examiner’s office was trying to determine if the body was Hudson’s nephew, Julian King, but an Amber Alert for the boy and the Suburban has been cancelled.

Balfour was taken into custody at a girlfriend’s home hours after the bodies were found. Sources say the girlfriend contradicted his alibi. Police say they’ve also caught him in at least one other lie. Police were able to track his whereabouts Friday through cell phone records, sources said.

Hey, no problem about Friday. I do think, however, that it would be healthy for me to leave those discussions in the future. It’s just not my cup of tea. . .

Last week, I posted a comment similar this one. It’s because I find it ridiculous how we drag and put each other down as black people. It’s offensive and hurtful to me as a black woman, and to hear some of the mean, nasty, and unnecessary things being said about black men is also offensive. I’ve dated asshole-ish black men too! I don’t hold all black men responsible for my poor decision making. I bet there is a white woman out there with an asshole of a white man. I’m sure she doesn’t hate all white men or bash white men because of it. If it’s like that, then swirl! I sifted all the idiots out and got a good hubby. I’m not racist in any way or anything, but I’m sick of letting them win. I can’t believe that this is how we precieve each other. Ladies, we have to stop this bashing (and at the end of the day wondering why we’re single). These men are only trifling if we let them be, and if we let them be, then we’re just as trifling. Men, you all have to start respecting your women a bit more. Overall, as a race, and as a people, we need to start respecting each other and ourselves more. I find it quite startling that I was on a political blog on a news site the other day, and the white folks weren’t dragging and putting each other down like us… They were dragging and putting down BLACK PEOPLE. My prayers go out to Jennifer Hudson and the entire family. I think that it is easy for someone from the outside of the situation to place blame…but now is really not the time. No matter the weakness, error or fault 3 lives have been tragically lost and that is truly heartbreaking. I am sure in the days to come there will be enough time for self analysis…as for now I just pray that the family can pull together and support each other in their time of need.

This is an excellent opportunity for those of you to reach out to a battered woman or a young girl in need. (and most of us know one) not to lecture her but to let her know you’ll be there for her. This is the type of tragedy no one saw comming but there are many other situations that can be avoided if we take the time lend a hand, sometime a kind word does more than we know. You see some boys hanging out up to no good, offer one a job, rake the leaves, clean the garage. Some may not accept but the one that does, it will make a difference, it may save his life. There a so many small things we all can do to create a better world. I don’t know if any of you have seen the Chef Jeff Project on the Food Network, but an ex-con turned gourmet chef has hired 6 at-risk youth to train in the culinary arts for an opportunity to go on a paid scholarship to culinary school. It’s really inspiring how these ex-cons and drug addicts are stepping up to the challenge, all it took was for someone to say “I care about you, let me show you a better way” we all have the power to make such a contribution. @slide … two people, separate times, came to visit for three days, ended up staying one month [each] had to ask them to leave – a friend of a friends came through with a family member, while family having picnic they were snooping in house getting a credit card in our closed bedroom door – we’re a christian home and have pray in the evenings with family – guests who are not christians will hid in bedroom during prayer time or just watch when we worship – spooky feeling – there’s no reason to just have people all up in your home anyway – they can go and watch their own t.v., eat their own food and relax with their own family .. plus, there’s nothing like coming home from a long day to just be with those that 100% love you and care for you -

Yes, I’m worried many times for the safety of my young relative who has already seen his mother in more than one abusive relationship with a man of bad character. And she has proclaimed that she likes “hard” men. I’m afraid that one of these “hard” men may one day hurt her son, and to say that would devastate our family is an understatement. It has been reported the little boy was shot in the head. Jennifer tried to get her Mom to move but she wouldn’t. Her Brother wanted her to move her whole family, but Jen said no. They were grown and need to fend for themselves. However, she will take her Mother and the nephew. He had learning disabilities, and that is why Jen’s Mother wouldn’t leave him behind. (couldn’t trust his Mom?). This whole situation is so sad. Just horrible!

The other day–I know you could see that I was very emotional about this situation. Kilgali made an observation about the little boy’s mother and although I didn’t agree that it was HER fault, I AGREED THAT SHE SHOULD SHARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF BRINGING THIS MAN INTO HER LIFE AND AROUND HER FAMILY.

At a closer glance, I studied her MYSpace page and her body mannerism during the news conference. Now, we all have different ways of dealing with tragedies and one of this magnitude makes it somewhat even more difficult.

CNN reported that the child was shot once in the back of the head, left on the floor and covered in plastic.

I understand your concerns, this is something that has to be a united effort. I just feel there are plenty of good citizens in the hood, but they don’t stand together, we flee for statistically safer neighborhoods, or sit back afraid. I live in the hood and a popular drug street, but my block seldom had an incident, because the neighbors stuck together, looked out for each other. some residents on the 1300 block of Kolin part of k-town anyone familiar with chitown knows k-town on the west side said they called sat to report the truck but nobody came out, a lady walking her dog early mon said the dog kept barking at the truck and thats when she noticed the white truck and the plates matched so she called the police and thats when they found the body on the back floor they couldnt say it was Julian until he was identified.

There is something more to this Why would the kid not have been shot and left right in the house with the other two victims? They have an older gay sister — nothin’ about her. Something is up and I hope the Hudson Family gets closure.

Whatever the real deal is, we have to clean up our ‘hoods. I know this could happen in any community, but black communities have disproportionate crime rates — that is why gunshots were heard, but the police weren’t called because it was “normal”. And then the fact that people will do anything for money, no respect for themselves, family, community, church, nothing, man. I remember back in high school, these two guys were pitching pennies and one guy stole the other guy’s dollar (A DOLLAR) and he shot him on spot. You know what happened to him, they put him directly in the mental institution. Because you have to be crazier than a road lizard to do something like that. So, yes, we the mothers of the non-productive children of the late 80s and early 90s are still independent, strong black women who raised our children in spite of all odds. We really did and do give a dayum.

Yes I am making generalizations but surely you get my point right? Obviously I am not speaking about every single black female but I am speaking about enough of them. Their numbers speak to the profoundly negative effect they have had on the community.

The black female has easily wrestled power away from the black male. How you ask, by firstly choosing men to have children with who she knew were not in a position to be the head of the homes. furthermore people can’t tell how Julia feels by watching her demeanor and pleading for her son on T.V. Everyone handles death in a different way.

When I lost my mother last year a family member made comments about me and my siblings of not being hurt that she was dead! She didn’t see us crying all week before the funeral. We grieved and mourned in private. We did not feel the need to put on a public display to well wishers so they could feel our pain.

Just because someone isn’t hollering and bawling their eyes out does not mean they are not hurting or in pain.

I bet some of you would love to watch her at the funeral to see if she shed any tears and if it’s not enough I guess she plotted to kill her family along with that bum.

Out of curiosity…I am just interested to understand your point. Am I correct to assume that you blame many of the social ills that exist in the African American community on supposed “strong women” who are actually weak that usurp authority from African American men who are powerless to take control of their communities? And in your opinion it is for this reason that a family that suffered a great tragedy deserves no sympathy or support? Without trying to change your opinion, because we are all entitled…doesn’t that point of view further divide our community without offering solutions? After all…no one has the power to restrict authority or take control over anyone’s thoughts, will or intentions. If a man wills to lead his family, he will do so as I’ve seen in many African American families from slavery until 2008 even at the risk of his own welfare. To assume that men are being hindered from making the decisions that empower families by their partners is a bit of a stretch…in my opnion. And as for your statement about women of color neglecting to chose men who are ready to be stable heads of the family…doesn’t that happen in every culture? And what of the man who accepts the responsibility of being the head of the family while not being fully prepared? Why is it that you dismiss his accountability? Shouldn’t he have the wisdom to either rise up to the occasion or make whatever choices are necessary to bring about a positive outcome? Your logic seems rather one-sided. Yes, some of us as women have far to go when it comes to certain issue concerning self esteem, parenting, partnering and rearing children but to blame one sex for the demise of a entire community is a stretch and an unbalanced view of what is actually going on in our communities. Ask yourself this, why is it that some of our women and men have the capacity to make decisions that do not value themselves as individual or uplift the community? Where is the leadership and direction in the home/community necessary to impart these seeds of wisdom that can indeed change our communities? Wouldn’t it be fair to say that somewhere along the line each individual has the capacity to do better if shown better? And if so, wouldn’t it also be fair to say that you are fortunate to be wise enough not to make the mistakes you discuss, but shouldn’t those that do not have what you have receive a hand up…not a foot on their neck?
