It is not just you. I really feel for young black girls today. When I was coming up, we had Mary J. Blige, SWV, Xscape, Salt-N-Pepa, Brandy, MC Lyte, and all these other FABULOUS women that were B L A C K. Now, all the “IT” girls you see are mixed or have gone through a lot of changes *ahem: weaves, bleach, nose jobs* to look mixed/european it is a shame. Even our old role models have done it. Have ya’ll seen Pepa??? It really disturbs me that everytime I turn on the TV or go on the web, African ancestry is erased… and I’m 24. I know a lot of this ***** is FAKE. But a 10 yr. old with kinky hair, round nose, and full lips doesn’t know that she is normal and beautiful. All she sees is so-called black women that look everything but.

Ive got to disagree with you. I mean really what are “European” features? Europe is a big continent with different kinds of people. DOnt you mean Scandinavian? ANd if you do mean Scandinavian, you are also talking about the descendents of Vikings and seafaring pillagers. Consider East African women? Compare them to West African women. Also have you seen South African women? They all look different.

This whole idea of what real black women should look like is completely dominated by the black American expirience. It shouldnt be the sole narrative of black people for so many reasons.
