Lil Wayne‘s in the hot seat again:

A federal lawsuit filed in May claims rapper Lil’ Wayne didn’t have permission to sample a song by singer Karma-Ann Swanepoel.

Lawyers for the rap star are seeking more time to turn over documents in response to a lawsuit that accuses the award-winning recording artist of copyright infringement.

The suit says Lil’ Wayne’s record label, Cash Money Records, tried but failed to negotiate a license to use Swanepoel’s song “Once” before millions of people downloaded the rapper’s song “I Feel Like Dying.”

A court filing Tuesday by Lil’ Wayne’s attorneys asks a judge in New Orleans to extend a Friday deadline for turning over documents requested by lawyers for the company that published Swanepoel’s song, reports The Associated Press.

Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. Weezy best prepare to shell over a percentage of those stacks. In other Weezy news, your boy is a little concerned about Plaxico Burress. In his “words”:

The Giants should be on everyone’s list to beat right now. Don’t look now but they’re slightly better than last year. And with Plaxico, I mean, they won all the games he missed earlier this season anyway. I don’t see the Plaxico incident having any kind of effect on them.

The whole Plaxico thing kind was crazy because immediately afterward everyone was talking about the legal implications and what are the Giants going to do with him now, and no one stopped and said, My God, this guy just shot himself. Is he okay? Was it stupid? Of course. I mean, I accidentally shot myself when I was twelve and that’s a scary lesson to learn. But before you go yelling at him and talking about his punishment for being so stupid it’s like, Guy, is your leg okay? I was amazed no one was asking that question. The guy just shot himself in the leg!

Another crash victim is trying to get broke off:

Brandy is facing a second lawsuit in relation to her 2006 car crash which left a woman dead. The singer, full name Brandy Norwood, walked away from the California freeway collision, but Awatef Aboudihaj died from her injuries.

The Afrodisiac hitmaker was never charged with any wrongdoing in the crash, but Aboudihaj’s family are pursuing a $50 million (GBP33.5 million) civil action for wrongful death against the star.

The investigator from the Clark County district attorney’s office said Alfred Beardsley admitted that Simpson gave him his Hall of Fame ring in exchange for altering his testimony to help the defense. Former NFL rushing champion Corey Dillon is all fired up over a Ferrari deal gone bad — dude claims he got taken for more than $500,000 by some fast guys with fast cars.

According to a lawsuit filed moments ago in L.A. County Superior Court, Dillon dropped his 2005 Ferrari F430 off at an auto repair shop to get a twin-turbo system added to his whip in May 2007 — but Dillon claims the guys never told him they weren’t officially authorized to work on Ferraris. Whitney’s back in the news once more. According to Livesteez:

R&B diva Whitney Houston is reportedly being sued by her step-mother for the remaining proceeds of her late father’s $1 million life insurance policy. Whitney was the beneficiary of the money following her father’s death in 2003. In a lawsuit filed in May (08), Barbara alleges her stepdaughter was instructed to use John Houston’s $1 million life insurance policy to pay off the mortgage on his apartment and hand over the title to the property and any remaining funds, according to TMZ.com.

Barbara’s lawsuit claims she was supposed to get the remaining proceeds as well as the title to the property, and that Whitney has yet to give her either one.

Barbara might as well forget about seeing one cent from that policy. That sh*t got smoked the hell up a long time ago. SMH.

Oprah and her lawyer’s about to put the legal smackdown on that sheisty former ex-mistress. According to Livesteez:

Oprah Winfrey has asked a court to either dismiss the defamation lawsuit filed against her in Philadelphia last month by the ex-headmistress of her South Africa girls school, or order that the matter be settled in arbitration.

Nomvuyo Mzamane accuses Winfrey of falsely implying that she wasn’t trustworthy, and of making such statements as, “I thought she cared about the girls of South Africa” in the wake of a sex abuse scandal at her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. Tiny Virginia Makopo, a dorm matron who worked under Mzamane, was charged with abusing six students last year. She has pleaded not guilty to 14 related charges in a South African court.

Mzamane’s lawsuit seeks more than $250,000 on five defamation and related counts from Winfrey and her production companies, reports the Associated Press. Winfrey denies making any false or defamatory statements and argues that the federal suit should not proceed in Pennsylvania.

This chick ought to be ashamed of herself. All that foul sh*t went down on her watch, then has the nerve to try to dig all up in Oprah’s pockets. She doesn’t stand a chance in hell.
