Jay-Z’s former homie, Dahaven , is getting a little more attention. He talked to New York Magazine recently:

Did you and Jay sell drugs together?

No, he ain’t do much selling drugs. I did all that work. He was just a good dude to be around. He was one of my best friends. I taught him some things, but I mainly kept him from being out on the street a lot. Whatever was mine was his. So, we shared clothes, we shared a whole bunch of stuff. We had sex with the same women plenty of times. We both got burnt! We had the drip. My mom took him to the clinic. My mom also got him out of jail.

Does Jay exaggerate his drug-dealing in his songs?

I’m telling you he overexaggerates. He was there to see things, but doing some big-time Frank Lucas–type thing? No. He nickled and dimed, but nothing on a major scale. He definitely didn’t sell nothin’ in Marcy. Spanish Jose, who he mentions a lot [in his songs], was a friend of mine. Jay didn’t have no affiliation to Spanish Jose.

You’re saying Jay appropriated your story?

He says it himself. He’s been talking about me since day one, on a lot of his albums. He mentioned me on The Black Album, and I hadn’t seen him in years.

Beyonce doesn’t like the sales of her last album and is already cooking up another one:

The 26-year-old singer has asked dance act The Freemasons to work on a new song for her next LP after her last offering B-Day failed to sell as well as hoped.

James Wiltshire, one half of the duo, said: “The album is going to be huge. It will rival anything the likes of Britney and Rihanna have done recently. Beyoncé and her team can see where mistakes were made on her last album. “That was very American, very r‘n’b and stripped back. This time they want to go for a more international sound and hit as many audiences as possible. Normally big stars don’t take any notice of smaller acts like ours, so her decision to work with us shows just where she is going with this album.”

What’s the rush Matthew? This album may be worse, her handlers should fall back, we think about 7 years would good. Her handlers need some time to write some decent songs and create a new personality for her to market.

Kelly Rowland hit up South Beach looking bangin’ in a kini. We hope she was on the celly ordering a hit (as in record). Looking like this, she should get her some good ‘fu*kin for tracks’ songs on her next album. She wasn’t putting any work in on this one.

Is the Beyonce frontin’ when she does that generic smile for her all her stans? Via New York Daily News:

Beyoncé just lost one British fan. Artist Paul Stillwell tells us that he started painting one year ago to cope with the death of his mother. He made this portrait of the singer (a copy of her “Dangerously in Love” album cover), and, when he heard about her recent concert at Wembley Stadium, he tells us, “I traveled 100 miles to London and waited outside her hotel for five hours. … When she came out I showed her my painting and said, ‘Beyoncé, will you sign my painting?’ She said, ‘No, sorry,’ and walked away. … I was devastated, as the painting took me over 80 hours to paint and I had put my whole heart and soul into it. I was shocked that she wouldn’t take two seconds of her time to sign her name on it.” There was no response by deadline to a request for comment from the singer’s rep.

Poor thang, for all that “stan game” and 80 hours, can’t even get an autograph. SMH.

Beyonce had her best face on during the ‘TODAY SHOW’ on NBC today where she performed. The only thing the public may not be tired of with Beyonce is her crawling on the floor and showing her backs in some tight jeans. WE HAVE SEEN “WHAT YOU GOT”, OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! Time for some fresh faces and talent.

Beyonce on jealousy rumors and Jennifer Hudson getting all the shine for DREAMGIRLS via People Magazine:

“I knew that the character that I played wasn’t the star,” Knowles, 25, told reporters on Saturday about knowing full well that her Diana Ross-esque role of Deena Jones was less meaty than Hudson’s part as Effie White – a part that is already getting Hudson Oscar buzz. “She wasn’t the underdog. She didn’t have the struggle and the pain and the dramatic scenes that Effie had, and I was fine with that.” Taking the role was about proving herself as an actress. “I’m already a star. I already have nine Grammys. Everyone knows I can sing,” Knowles said. “I did this because I wanted people to know that I can act and I can play someone so different from myself.” “Because I’m a star they just automatically assume that I’m not humble enough to sit down and take a back seat, which I am.” But the R&B star did admit that she would have liked to have sung Effie’s song, “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going,” a showstopper that, in large part, helped get Jennifer Holliday a Tony Award for best actress for the original 1981 Broadway version of Dreamgirls. “I mean,” said Knowles, “I wish I could’ve gained 20 pounds and played Effie.” Asked if she’d really have packed on the weight for the part, Knowles said, “Yes. I absolutely would have, but Bill (Condon, the movie’s writer-director) didn’t even believe that I could be Deena. So imagine if I would’ve said, ‘Bill, I want to be Effie.’ ” And Knowles has high praise for Hudson’s portrayal of Effie. “Jennifer Hudson had such a pressure, first of all, never being in a film and never have done an album and still having to live up to those expectations,” said Knowles. “She did incredible.”

Hmmm, I guess Beyonce didn’t want to be the first Black woman to win a Grammy and Oscar after all. SMH at Beyonce undermining Jennifer’s shine by suggestingg their different roles are the main reason Jennifer is getting the buzz and not her.
