Although the Knicks had to shell out beaucoup stacks to atone for Isiah’s f*ckery, none of that caused FIU to think twice about naming him their new men’s basketball coach:

After leaving his position as head coach of the New York Knicks in 2008, following a losing season that tied the franchise’s worst record ever mark, Isiah Thomas has signed on to coach at Florida International University.

According to FoxSports.com, the school announced Tuesday (April 14) that they had signed Thomas to a five-year contract, and would introduce him as the FIU head coach on Wednesday (April 15) during a news conference.

47-year-old Thomas will replace Sergio Rouco — who was fired this week after a 55-94 record in five years at the Sun Belt Conference school.

Isiah played 13 seasons in the NBA all for the Detroit Pistons. In 2000, he came onboard the Indiana Pacers team as a head coach, leading the team to the playoffs during his three seasons with the organization. However, he was replaced by Rick Carlisle in 2003.

Thomas when on to become president of basketball operations for the New York Knicks, and eventually replaced Larry Brown as head coach in 2006.

In 2000, Thomas was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame, in his initial year of eligibility.

You can’t blame FIU for taking an opportunity to (1) give their program a fighting chance and (2) to get instant buzz.  They just better make sure to hide all the women…even the busted ones as history has proved Isiah doesn’t discriminate when it comes to dishing out sexual harassment.
