On why he was private about Ashanti relationship but is public with Shantel:
You know what? I think that’s something that everybody just threw on Nelly and that wasn’t the case. Obviously, we had an agreement [to keep things private] it wasn’t just my case to just keep that private like that. But I think, in this situation, it’s kind of hard to show everything that’s been going on [with me] without showing that side of it too. Shantel’s a sweet person and you get a chance to see what’s going on with her as well in terms of our relationship getting a chance to grow.
On why he waited to do a reality show & rumors about him having multiple babymamas:
One of the things that made me wait so long was that making sure that my kids had a chance to be older so they can deal with this situation as much as possible and I think [now] is a good time.
It’s, obviously, my 2 children with their mother and then my niece and nephew, who were my sister’s 2 kids when she passed and I took her 2. And it’s just one child’s mother [laughs]. You know, people hear 2 kids and they automatically think [more than one babymama]. But nah, I have one children’s mother.
