The U.S. Environment Protection Agency is proposing a new Clean Power Plan…The Clean Power Plan’s ambitions to cut down CO2 emissions in America would result in the average family shelling out more than $1,225 for power and gas by 2030, the NBCC claimed, citing a study released by Management Information Services, Inc. “The EPA’s carbon dioxide regulation is a slap in the face to poor and minority families,” NBCC CEO Harry Alford said last week in a statement. “These communities already suffer from higher unemployment and poverty rates compared to the rest of the country, yet EPA’s regressive energy tax threatens to push minorities and low-income Americans even further into poverty.”

Ohio Senator: For-Profit Colleges Use Taxpayer Dollars For “Deceptive” Marketing

…An investigation found that for-profit colleges spend “massively” on “deceptive” marketing campaigns, which is mostly financed by tax-payers, Cleveland.com reported. With this information, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown has had it with for-profit career schools. “American tax dollars spent on education are meant to support students, not support aggressive, deceptive, and misleading marketing campaigns by certain for-profit education companies,” Brown, an Ohio Democrat, told the Northeast Ohio Media Group. AT&T Fined $100M For Unlimited Data Plan Sorcery

The Federal Communications Commission is accusing the ubiquitous brand of intentionally slowing down the usage speeds for subscribers of unlimited data plans. Reports Re/code: [FCC] officials announced plans Wednesday to fine AT&T $100 million for misleading subscribers about unlimited data plans. It’s the largest such fine the agency has ever proposed under rules that require broadband providers to clearly disclose information about their services to consumers. On Wednesday, the FCC alleged AT&T’s practice of slowing the speeds of unlimited data plan users and failing to tell them that their speeds could be slower than other customers violated transparency obligations under the agency’s old net neutrality rules, which have been in effect since 2010.
