Rapper Was In Divorce Court With Ex-Wife Tashera
DMX missed his last court date and ended up with a warrant out for his arrest.
But Thursday, the rapper made sure he was on time for a hearing on he and ex-wife Tashera Simmons’ ongoing divorce and child support case.
DMX and the mother of his children appeared Thursday in Westchester County Supreme Court, where lawyers for the pair agreed to exchange financial and property information so that the exes can finally split their marital wealth.
Both sides will have until next month to hand over their income info, but if Tashera and DMX can’t come to an agreement out of court, then the case will go to trial in April.
Thursday’s hearing was supposed to be an inquest – or a trial – where the judge decides how their assets will be divvied up, as well as child support.
But Tashera’s lawyer, Joseph Daniels told the judge he’d been trying to get DMX to reveal his assets, and didn’t want to move forward with a trial to split their marital earnings because they still didn’t know what the exact figure was.

The couple was married 14 years, and have four children together.
Last month, a different judge ordered a warrant for DMX’s arrest after he performed at a Las Vegas nightclub instead of showing up for divorce court. His Uncle Nell later told BOSSIP that the rapper’s no show was down to a mixup between his lawyers and the court.
Back at the hearing, Judge John Colangelo asked DMX to cooperate with his lawyer and make sure he hands over the financial paperwork. The judge also chided X – real name Earl Simmons – for missing his last court date, and said the shenanigans had to stop today.
“Mr Simmons, given your track record, you have to make all your court appearances,” Judge John Colangelo said. “You’re still subject to a contempt warrant. You’re still subject to be incarcerated.”
“Yes sir,” DMX told the judge.
Outside court, the outspoken rapper was uncharacteristically tight lipped when a BOSSIP reporter asked him his thoughts on the case.
“It went well,” DMX said. “Glory be to God.”
