Tisha Campbell Reveals Tommy’s Job On “Martin”
On the latest episode of BOSSIP’s “Don’t Be Scared” podcast David, Danni and Jah chat with Tisha Campbell-Martin about her illustrious acting career and iconic roles in “House Party”, “School Daze” and of course “Martin.”
And while dishing on playing Gina, Tisha revealed that despite Martin’s constant “you ain’t got no job jokes”, his bestie Tommy was actually gainfully employed.
Where you ask? At the local Boys & Girls Club.
“Tommy really did have a job, I’ll give you a hint,” said Tisha. “The woman I was gonna fight, she was Martin’s teacher; Beverly Johnson, in that episode that’s the first time you hear about Tommy’s job.
The second time you see Tommy’s job is in the Christmas episode when he brings us to speak to children and Martin calls the little boy “water head,” she added.
“So Tommy talks about him being in the Boys & Girls Club and he was a counselor at the Boys & Girls Club. That’s what he did for a living.”
She also added that the writers of the show purposely made sure Tommy’s job was ambiguous because the “Shakespearean actor” was complaining too much on set.
“Tommy was complaining, ‘I don’t think they’re developing my character enough, no one knows what I do for a job, they keep asking me what I do!’ So then they started putting in the script that Tommy has no job.”
