Chad Johnson Almost Lost Home Because Of $3,500 Debt

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson will not be kicked out on the streets and his home sold off at auction because the former NFL star coughed up the cash he owed just days before it was set to be sold to the highest bidder.

Last year, the Long Lake Ranches West Homeowners Association sued Chad in Broward County Superior Court, accusing the former NFL star of owing them more than $3,500 in fees related to his pad. The association demanded the court allow them to foreclose on the property and sell it off at auction to get the money owed from the sale off the home.

The suit demanded the court allow them to kick Johnson out of his home. They also wanted to sell the mansion at public auction.

Johnson purchased the Davie, Fl. mansion back in 2005 for $1,365,000, and it was also the scene of his infamous domestic violence arrest with his ex-wife Evelyn Lozada.

Chad Johnson saves home from foreclosure

Last December, the homeowners association filed a motion for default judgment because Chad blew off the case for several months despite being served with the legal papers.

They pled with the judge to grant them their motion for the default judgment and allow them to kick Chad out of his home and sell it off at auction ASAP. The judge set a hearing for March.

The hearing took place on March 2nd in Broward County Court. The judge would have heard Chad’s argument … if he had bothered to show up to the hearing. However, the ex-NFL star was a no-show and the judge granted the motion for default judgment and closed the case.

The Florida home was scheduled to be auctioned on April 15 at 10am.

However, the former NFL star coughed up the debt, which ballooned to more than $11,000, a mere two days before he was about to lose his home. The Homeowners Association headed to court and filed docs explaining they are canceling the foreclosure sale and Chad has paid all his debt to them.
