Retired Pro Baller Stopped Paying Mortgage On Queens Pad
Ex-NBA star Craig “Speedy” Claxton has blown off a legal battle over his New York home for months – and now the mortgage company is demanding the judge allow them to foreclose on the pad and sell off at auction.
Nationstar Mortgage filed a foreclosure lawsuit against Speedy in New York Supreme Court.
Back in 2007, Claxton took out a $540,000 mortgage to purchase the home in Queens.
The company explained the college basketball coach failed to make his mortgage payment on April 1st, 2015 and every month after that. The balance owed on the New York home – at the time of the lawsuit being filed – was $478,328.69 plus interest and late charges.
They filed suit demanding they be allowed to foreclose on Claxton’s home and kick the NBA star to the curb ASAP.
Then last month, the company headed to court demanding they be granted a default judgement in the legal battle due to Claxton blowing off the entire case.
A decision on the motion will be decided soon, and the judge could order Claxton to vacate his home and allow for the pad to be sold off at public auction.
The home in Far Rockaway, NY is listed as having 8 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and is more than 3,000 sq. ft.
