Rapper Filed For Bankruptcy Last Year

50 Cent’s baby mama has asked a court to up her child support for the couple’s teen son, arguing that she needs more money to help pay for the kid’s college tuition.

Shaniqua Tompkins has asked a judge in New York Family Court to “modify” her current $6,700 a month payments for Marquise, 19, because she needs the extra money to send him to school among other things, her lawyer, John Katsandonis confirmed to BOSSIP.

“The case is ongoing,” he told us. “There’s an issue of him paying for his child’s education.”

Katsandonis said there were other reasons why Tompkins asked for more support, but he declined to discuss them because the issue is still in court.

“There is a basis – a reason – for the petition,” he said. “It’s in litigation at the moment. Hopefully he will continue to provide for his son and be a good parent.”

Although some child support agreements mandate payments until age 18, 50 Cent is responsible for the support until his son turns 21, according to New York state law.

50 Cent himself mentioned his case with Tompkins in court papers he filed for his proposed bankruptcy repayment plan earlier this week, adding that he was up to date on all of his child support payments.

“Ms. Tompkins has recently commenced a proceeding seeking an upward modification of the debtor’s child support obligations,” 50 wrote in docs obtained by BOSSIP. “That litigation is ongoing, and could result in an additional claim for child support against the debtor.”

50 cent's baby mama wants child support increase

50 Cent filed for bankruptcy last year, listing more than $28 million in debts. Both Tompkins and 50’s other baby mama, Daphne Narvaez filed claims against 50 for future child support as part of his bankruptcy. Tompkins made a claim for $120,000 and Narvaez filed one for $832,600.

The G-Unit rapper has another son, Sire, with Narvaez, and wrote in court docs that he pays her $4,600 a month in child support.
