Google has come under fire recently for the fact that some searches on the platform reveal racial double standards and stereotypes. While Google has said they are just a reflection of the news stories that are produced and the things people search for, there has to be something that can be done to clean this up. Images mean things, and the continued negative imagery every time we look for something has a negative impact on our psyches. Don’t believe us? Take a look at some searches that are perpetuating double standards.

Google came under fire for this tweet search of THREE BLACK TEENS

“Gun violence children” is overwhelmingly Black

“Smart person” is White as hell.

If you start searching “why do Black” then these are the suggestions. “Ax”…really?

Why do Black men…what?!

Why are Black…

This Google+ Organized their pics as “gorillas”

Why are Black women…?

And here’s the search result for Asian Women

Here’s what happens when you search “Ebony”

And the first related search for Ebony is “thick”

You have to scroll down to the 5th row before you even get to Ebony Magazine.

And now we see how regular searches genuinely just give us White results. Here’s “woman”

Search “man” and you see a bunch of White guys and one Black guy in a mugshot.

Search “boy”…you guessed it.
