Rapper Killed Early Wednesday In One Vehicle Crash

Atlanta rapper Shawty Lo, who died early Wednesday in a fiery car crash, was killed by blunt force trauma to the head, according to autopsy results.

An investigator from the Fulton County, Ga. Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to BOSSIP Wednesday that the rapper’s cause of death was “blunt force injuries to the head,” that he sustained during his car accident overnight Wednesday. His two female companions were not seriously hurt, police said.

Shawty Lo, who was born Carlos Greer, had just left the strip club Blue Flame when he veered of the highway and struck two trees, police said. Fulton County Medical Examiner Investigator Betty Honey said her office performed a preliminary test that showed the rapper didn’t have alcohol in his system, however some samples were sent to the lab for further testing. Honey said they did not test for drugs because the case was finalized and no one had been charged.

“It’s a waste of effort,” Honey said. “Even if he was drunk or high, the outcome was still the same.”

Known for hits like “Laffy Taffy” and Dey Know, the 40-year-old is survived by 11 children.
