An Article Claiming Young Thug Has Medical Problems Is Causing Outrage Among Fans

DJBooth is constantly pushing the envelope when it comes to their article topics. Revered by many music consumers and creators alike, they are known to pride themselves on not succumbing to the “click-bait” articles and headlines that many music blogs thrive on. Usually, the pieces they post are showered with praise, but one they released on Tuesday was met with a lot of anger.

The article entitled, “We Asked a Medical Professional About Young Thug’s Lean Abuse: ‘See Your Doctor Immediately'” seems like a good idea…but zeroing in on Young Thug for the entirety of the article proved to be a wrong move on their part. The article mentions Pimp C, A$AP Yams and DJ Screw who all passed away from complications with lean, but makes some striking assumptions off Young Thug’s personal health that are just plain weird.

Most people (except those actually using drugs like promethazine) agree that it’s a bad idea, it’s unfortunate that today’s music is promoting it, and an interview with a doctor about the medical detriments is a good idea. The focus on Young Thug, however, and the direct call for him to seek medical help is where the article loses it’s efficacy, and cause fans to be focused on DJBooth calling Thug out rather than looking at the actual medical advice.

The idea for the article was definitely commendable, but probably would have been better suited as a general plea rather than a pointed attack at Young Thug.

Hit the flip to see some of the fan reactions to the article. What do y’all think? Should they have singled out Young Thug, or just posted some useful medical info about how harmful lean is?
