Professor Discovers Jingle Bells Is Rooted In Racism And White Folks Get Pissed
Yea, we know. Racism ruins EVERYTHING.
A theater historian professor came out to the press with her “Jingle Bells” discovery, revealing the coveted tune was originally performed in blackface by White men.
Kyna Hamill, a Boston university professor, explained in her “Theatre Survey” research paper the problematic history of “Jingle Bells.” The beloved Christmas tune, originally called “One Horse Open Sleigh,” was first performed in blackface, according to an 1857 playbill discovered by Hamill.
“As I mentioned in my article, the first documented performance of the song is in a blackface minstrel hall in Boston in 1857, the same year it was copyrighted,” Hamill told Fox News.
Oh well! Who is surprised that a traditional American holiday tune is rooted in racism?
MAGAs are actually upset at this professor’s finding, calling her a liar and befuddled at the historian for dismantling an American tradition. Hit the flip to see the mayo jar of emotions over racist Jingle Bells’ history.
