Negrochella: Beyonce, Eminem And The Weekend Set To Headline The Most Blackety Black Coachella to Date
Beyonce, Eminem, And The Weeknd Headline Coachella
The official Coachella 2018 lineup has been revealed, and for the first time ever the festival has completely foregone placing rock & roll on the main roster. Instead, the festival is featuring three big-name urban artists — Beyonce, Eminem, and the Weeknd.
Bey’s appearance on the lineup is no shocker, of course, seeing as how the impending arrival of the Holy Hov twins kept her off the stage last year. But we weren’t ready for the rest of the lineup to fall so squarely in the realm of “urban audience” interests.
Not only is Beyonce the first-ever Black woman to headline the festival, but all three headliners this year come from the R&B/Hip-Hop genre. Furthermore, the second-billing lineup features appearances from SZA, Cardi B, Migos, Miguel, Vince Staples, Tyler the Creator, and Post Malone.
And in the even finer print you have artists like 6lack, French Montana, Daniel Ceasar, Jidenna, Wizkid, Kelela, Lion Babe, Chic ft. Nile Rodgers, Jorja Smith, Kamasi Washington, DJ Black Coffee, Amine, Flatbush Zombies, Chloe X Halle and more.
Peep the lineup for yourself.
Needless to say, the announcement has folks rejoicing in the Black Excellence of it all and rearranging their 2018 savings plans to accommodate the over $500 tickets that go on sale Friday (or resigning themselves to watching a livestream from home). Hit the flip for more…
