Ariana Grande Responds To Upset Over Fiancé’s Bombing Joke

Ariana Grande is standing by her fiancé Pete Davidson and his ill-advised jokes, but that doesn’t quite mean she finds them funny herself.

The “No Tears Left to Cry” singer has finally broken her silence on Davidson’s distasteful joke about the Manchester bombing back in May of 2017, that left 22 people dead and more than 130 injured following Grande’s concert.

Pete joked about finding out just how famous Ariana was from that incident, quipping, “Britney Spears didn’t have a terrorist attack at her concert,” during a Puerto Rico hurricane relief event last fall, according to The Mirror.

His insensitive joke was met with backlash online, and now Grande has finally acknowledged her thoughts on the matter. She responded to a fan account who asked why she was still with Davidson after the incident.

Ariana argues that her fiancé “uses comedy to help [people] feel better [about] how f-ed up things in this world are,” also adding, “We all deal [with] trauma differently.”

This brand of comedy definitely isn’t new for Davidson. The comedian’s father died in the September 11 attacks back in 2001, and he has told plentiful jokes about his own trauma stemming from that throughout the years.

Grande also clarified after defending her boo, “I of course didn’t find it funny. It was months ago & his intention wasn’t/is never malicious but it was unfortunate.”

Davidson himself has yet to respond to the criticism.
