Alexx Banks Battling Brain Flu
A cast member on an OWN reality show is extremely sick. Alexx Banks (L) of “Ready To Love” has been hospitalized since Thanksgiving with the brain flu, an extremely rare condition that’s affected fewer than 50 people in the United States.
He is currently on life support after falling into a coma.
Banks’ family spoke with WSBTV and said that he first started having flu-like symptoms on November 11 and now they’re hoping that a specialist can help him.
“We didn’t know what the brain flu was. We’re, like, ‘What’s going on?’ and, basically, it’s fluid on the brain,” Banks’ sister, Shaunteh said.
Awareness about Banks’ illness has been spread by his “Ready To Love” castmates and the show’s producer Will Packer.
His family has launched a GoFundMe for his medical and personal care costs. Banks is a truck driver who does not have insurance.
