WWE Has A Black Champion
If you know anything about wrestling then you know that most of its champions have been white. On Sunday, though, that all changed. Kofi Kingston became the first black man to win the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. Ever. He was riding a wave of fandom and positivity to become one of the most popular wrestlers in the game. His win was huge for fans who were tired of seeing the same white dudes win titles while black wrestlers don’t get those shots.
This was a huge moment for wrestling fans and black fans all over the world. Take a look at the outpouring of love for this big moment.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you all.
Without your love & support, especially over the past couple months, none of this happens. You helped me achieve my childhood dream & I’m eternally grateful for each & every one of you.
Sincerely,
Your WWE World Heavyweight Champion
-Kofi

Ive never felt emotions like this in my entire career. @TrueKofi did it. We all did it. Tonight a previously closed off part of the @wwe universe realized that they can be champion too & that representation is so much more important than people realize. Congrats Kofi. We love you

I used to watch professional wrestling once a day – whether it be online, Raw, Smackdown or PPV
As I got older, my love for it hasn’t waned but I haven’t dedicated the same time to it
Still, Kofi winning the WWE Title at Wrestlemania made me emotional. pic.twitter.com/NDActYTKYy

The WWE Champion is black.
The WWE Champion is a guy that wears pigtails and pink.
The WWE Champion is an immigrant.
