Last night’s static-splattered Verzuz battle between Durag&B legends Jagged Edge and 1/2 of 112 (56???) was a nostalgia-fueled experience filled with matching denim (or lenin) melodies that entertained 200K industry tastemakers, cultural curators, fans and brands who enjoyed yet another unforgettable night in Black music.

This comes just a day after legendary Dancehall ICONS Beenie Man & Bounty Killer blessed a massive international audience (headlined by Rihanna) with easily the best Verzuz spectacle of the entire series.

What they didn’t do, though, is take us back to the golden era of Hip-Hop/Soul where Jagged Edge and 112 dominated the charts for nearly two decades with an enviable level of star power (and sex appeal) that continue to define their legacy to this very day.

Peep the Twitter hysteria over Jagged Edge & 112’s Ciroc-splashed Verzuz battle on the flip.

“Slim: “Good evening I’m 1 and this is the 12.” #VERZUZ” – haaaaaaaa

“Why somebody said they’re squinting to hear it better 💀💀💀 #VERZUZ” – this… is HILARIOUS

“They asked if the sound is working…Teddy Riley had the audacity to give the thumbs up “👍🏾” – the AUDACITY

“LMAO 112 really only got half of the original members there. JE vs 56.” – you hate to see it

“Jagged Edge playing their songs off this #verzuz” – allll these Verzuz battles and we’re STILL having sound issues

“This Jagged Edge vs. 112 battle got WiFi from 1998…” – and that’s being generous

“112 playing “I’ll Be Missing You” while Slim holds up the Grammy … #VERZUZ

Jagged Edge:” – their reactions to 112’s smash hits were hilarious

“Diddy in the background making 112 say “Ciroc” every 2 seconds #VERZUZ” – the plugs were so excessive

“My question with the #Verzuz battles:

What is being done all damn day that you don’t check for sound or internet quality? I just…make it make sense.” – PLEASE, we need answers!
