Honoree: Dr. Wendy Osefo, PhD
The Grind: Commentator, Professor, Reality Cast Member
Find Her: @wendyosefo
Wendy Osefo proudly wears all of her titles, political commentator, reality cast member, and history maker, but when she says “wife” or “mother” you can hear the smile in her voice. While you usually see Dr. Wendy on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News eloquently and passionately explaining her political viewpoints and pushing social justice reforms, this year, we were given a more intimate look at Dr. Wendy’s life as the latest addition to Real Housewives of Potomac. Living in Maryland with her husband and three kids, the Nigerian-American makes balancing it all look like a cake-walk.
Whether battling racists on-camera or engaging with fellow cast members on her reality show, something that surely came in handy at Rutgers University-Camden as she made history as the first Black woman to earn a Ph.D. in public affairs and community development.
YOLO is her life mantra. With her husband by her side, the protection of her sister, the encouragement of her mother, and the forever presence of her late father, Wendy has created the perfect “board of directors” as she affectionately calls them, conquering life one lesson at a time. The greatest lesson she’s learned over the last couple of years? “Never cut what you can untie,” she says.
