Esther Scott, a veteran character actress who appeared in films and TV shows including Boyz N the Hood, Dreamgirls, Transformers, and Beverly Hills, 90210, died on February 14 after suffering a heart attack. She was 66 years old.

Clifford Robinson

18-year NBA veteran Clifford Robinson died from lymphoma at the age of 53 on August 29.

Robinson played eight seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers. Beginning in 1989, he helped the team reach the finals in 1990 and 1992 and the playoffs all eight years. After retiring in 2007, he was a contestant on the 28th season of Survivor.

Betty Wright

Legendary soul and R&B singer Betty Wright died on May 10. She was 66 years old. Her cause of death was not announced.

The Miami native had been singing since the age of 2, performing with her siblings as part of the gospel group Echoes of Joy. The Grammy Award winner wrote hits for herself and others including Gloria Estefan, Joss Stone, and Jennifer Lopez.
