Gone Too Soon: Celebrities We Lost In 2020

Broadway star Nick Cordero died on July 5 from coronavirus complications after battling the illness for over 90 days in the hospital. He was 41 years old.

The actor was one of the earliest, most serious cases of COVID-19 to be documented so publicly, thanks to his wife. Before his death, he has previously gotten his leg amputated after being placed in a medically induced coma. Cordero earned a Tony nod for his role in Bullets Over Broadway.

Fred Willard

On May 15, comedian and actor Fred Willard died at the age of 86 from natural causes.

The comedy legend is best known for his performances in Christopher Guest’s many mockumentaries and other roles on Modern Family, Everybody Loves Raymond, Anchorman, and more.

Regis Philbin

Legendary talk show host Regis Philbin died on July 24 at the age of 88.

“His family and friends are forever grateful for the time we got to spend with him — for his warmth, his legendary sense of humor, and his singular ability to make every day into something worth talking about,” his family said in a statement to PEOPLE at the time. “We thank his fans and admirers for their incredible support over his 60-year career and ask for privacy as we mourn his loss.”
